Dawes extended the range of hia versatility this morn ing when he directed the filming of a scene of a western motion picture at Julesburg, Wyo., four miles from Cheyenne. The vice president, coached by James Cruz and with jm occasional pointer from Betty Compson, appeared to enjoy the novel role which he assumed. Mrs. Dawes accompanied by United States Senator Francis E. War ren, Mrs. Warren and a committee of prominent local folks, left for the Julesburg location at 8 o'clock. Following the work a banquet was served in the dining room. E. T. Carey, lamb buyer from San Francisco, was in Merrill Thursday looking over the lambs in this vicinity for August delivery. Velton M. Mr. and Mrs. George Herbertb from Sparks, Nov were recent visitors in Merrill, the guests pf Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Bowman. Other visitors at the Bowman home were Mr. and Mrs. C. W. FIgg and son Joseph from Enid, Oklahoma. They arc cousins of Mrs. Bowman's. Bert Griffin and Miss Lola Boyd from Alturas were visitors at the home of their cousin, Mrs.-W. C. Bailey, the first of the week. They were on their way home from Port land. Miss Babe Pomeroy was also with them. Mr. and Mrs. It. H. George Millard, who was recent ly hurt in an automobile accident, has recovered so as to be able to return to his home near Merrill. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Myers were visitors in Klamath Falls Tuesday.
