CHEYENNE, Wyo., July 21. Vice President Charles
(J. Dawes extended the range of hia versatility this morn
ing when he directed the filming of a scene of a western
motion picture at Julesburg, Wyo., four miles from
Cheyenne.
The vice president, coached by James Cruz and with
jm occasional pointer from Betty Compson, appeared to
enjoy the novel role which he assumed. Mrs. Dawes
accompanied by United States Senator Francis E. War
ren, Mrs. Warren and a committee of prominent local
folks, left for the Julesburg location at 8 o'clock. Sur

Mrs. W. F. Hill left' the first of
the week for a 'several weeks visit
witli her parents at'Roseburg.
- Mr. and Mrs. Sd Kearth; ; and
daughter Edloe anil son John; from
Maxwell, Calif.; who have been
visiting Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Merrill
left for their borne the first or the
week.
C M. Mcrritt was a visitor in
Klamath .Palls .Tuesday. .' , ,
. Saturday, night the Modern
'Woodmen of Klamath Falls:. and
Merrill held , initiation in the I. O.
O. .F. hall in Merrill. There were a
number, of candidates . from both
places. There were members from
Ashland and Klamath Falls here to
help with the . work. Johnson E.
Smith, state deputy, was also here.
This lodge in Merrill is in a flour
ishing condition. Following the
work a banquet was served in the
dining room.
E. T. Carey, lamb buyer from San
Francisco, was in Merrill Thursday
looking over the lambs in this
vicinity for August delivery.
Velton M. Haskins ana family

visit' Mrs. Haskins' parents. Mr.
Haskins returned Monday but Mrs.
Haskins will remain some time
with her people.
Mr. and Mrs. George Herbertb
from Sparks, Nov were recent
visitors in Merrill, the guests pf
Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Bowman. Other
visitors at the Bowman home were
Mr. and Mrs. C. W. FIgg and son
Joseph from Enid, Oklahoma. They
arc cousins of Mrs. Bowman's.
Bert Griffin and Miss Lola Boyd
from Alturas were visitors at the
home of their cousin, Mrs.-W. C.
Bailey, the first of the week. They
were on their way home from Port
land. Miss Babe Pomeroy was also
with them.
Mr. and Mrs. It. H. Anderson and
daughters," Thirza and Helen, left
Wednesday for Rocky Point for a
two' weeks' outing.
George Millard, who was recent
ly hurt in an automobile accident,
has recovered so as to be able to
return to his home near Merrill.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Myers were
visitors in Klamath Falls Tuesday.

Mrs. J.' W. Taylor was In Klam
ath Falls Wednesday to meet her
daughter, 'Miss Mary Taylor, who
had been visiting in ' Portland and
other valloy towns. While in Port
land, whore she attended tho inter
national C. E. convention, sho also
climbed Mt. Hood. It was a wonder
ful climb. She returned by way of
Bend. Miss Taylor reports that Mrs.
C. C. Hulet, with whom she made
the trip to Portland, is very 111 in
that city and it Is. feared sho may
bo compelled to undergo an opera
tion. Mr. and Mrs. Turnliaiigh, who are
stationed at the Sun creek en-"
