Murphy, Medford Indicted for Alleged Killing of Wife - DIES AFTER BEATING Manslaughter Bill Returned Others Hefd For. Various Offenses MEDFOUD, Ore., Juno 10. Omar W. Murphy, charged with man slaughter, as the result of an alleged heating administered to his wifo on April 1. and whose preliminary hear ing has been postponed twice, has been indicted by the grand Jury, on the preferred charge. He Is -at lib erty on 13,000 bonds. , Ilesldes the indictment of Murphy, the grand Jury, which convened Tuesday, returned four othor true bills. , F. M. White, a farmer living be tween Jacksonville and Gold ' Hill, was indicted for possession of a still and possession of mash. White was arrested In a raid on his place Mon day night by the sheriff's office and federal prohibition officers. A fifteen gallon capacity still, three quarts of finished product and forty gallons of mash were seized. According' to Sheriff Jennings, White admitted ownership and pos session and said ho "was selling what he could not drink himself." T. E. Efforts are being made to have representatives of both the Hill and the Southern Pacific lines present at thn meet ing to explain their positions in the big rail battle which is now being fought in this county. Rev. C. C. Hulet, who. will pre side, took occasion to correct a mis-statement of facts as given by local newspaper. Ho says that he did not say that the people of Merrill . wero entirely dissatisfied with the result of the Malln meet ing last Sunday, nor did he say that the action taken at Malin was wrong.
