TELEPHONE PENALTIES Parisians have been growing impatient with their telephone service and from what we have heard of it, we should think they would. But it will do them no good, at all to kick about it to the operator. '. The telephone company has ' devised an ingenious method of punishing patrons for such audacity. - There will be even less pretense of immediate connections than there has- beenv Calls coming into the exchanges will be numbered and, other things being equal, handled in order of their reception. But when any subscriber, annoyed by the delay in giving him his party, begins to grow obstreperous, the exchange girl will quietly switch hisfcall' to the end of the list and make him wait accordingly. They will probably get away with that-too in France. - Still, it isn't essentially different from wltat happens over here. -An - American operator usually takes, matters . into her own' hands uwhen a patron grows abusive, and administers punishment to fit the crime.
