and Instructions for uso thereof Is
the method most expedient and ef
fective to bo used for tho extermin
ation nnd destruction of such Ground
Squirrels and Is hereby recommend
ed, to-wlt: alkaloid strychnine used
on oats, mixed according to tho fol
lowing formula nnd mojincr, to-wlt:
Onto, clean, good, heavy onts, 20
iiuarts; Strychnine (powdered alka
loid), 1 ounce; Ulcarbonato of Soda,
(baking soda), 1 ounce; Thin Starch
Paste, pint; Heavy Corn Syrup,
'i pint; Glycerin), 1 ounco'; Sacchar
ine, V ounce; Salt, 4 tablespoonrul.
This material should bo mixed as
follews: Mix dry, one ounco pow
dered strychnine and ono ounco of
baking soda. Mako n starch paste
ef: Stir ono tnblespoonful of gloss
starch Into ono-half cup cf cold wa
ter, then pour It into one-half pint
of boiling water and cook until a
thick, clear, transparent nasto is
rormod which Is free from lumps.
When pa-ite Is formed, add tho dry
nixlura of strychnine and soda. 1

nnp-hnlf pint of heavy corn syrup 1

this over twenty qunrts of good,

spread cut to dry. stirring it up oc
casionally to prevent drying In a
