"KJrcuood was obtainable along the route and wo were able to use our woodstovc after cutting a hole In the side of the car for the stove pipe, Li quid food proved our only difficulty. It was Impossible to boll even half an Inch of water on the stovo when the car was In motion. We had a real American coffee grinder. Tho coffee bcuns were put in a clean sock andi one of the men to tho tune of "Yank-, ci' Doodle' would crush tho beanj with a hammer. "When chicken was wanted for dinner one of the party would go out with half a cup of sugar In hand, wander about the village until he saw a 'likely' chicken, which ho would thereupon seize. The native woman who made the most outcry was pre sumed to be the owner and usually was glad to accept the halt cup ol supar in exchange. Our much malign- j ed ration of 'bull Veef proved to, be acceptable also. t I "Uarterlng was tho order of the, day ut all stations. I'AHIS, May 7 if orrcspondenre of the Associated Press Maboratr plans for international alr-servlres are now being worked out by the French government and it Is prob able that on in of them will be In augurated soon after the 1'caee Conference has finished work and promulgated Its decisions for the control of aviation. In addition France will establish air routes which will be entirely within her own boundaries and therefore under her control alone. One of the moat pretentious schemes is that for a service which will run London-I'arls-Marsellles-' Komo -NnpIes-nrindlse-Coniftantlno-ple. Another line will be established between Paris and Morocco, and Par Is and Madrid probably will be link-, ed up There arc at present two services out of Paris, one to London and the other of Lite and Brussels. The for mer is at the moment for military1 business only .but plans have been laid for a service that will benefit, the general public. So far there is, no intention to make this a passen ger service but the feasibility is be-1 Ing discussed of sending telegrams and special delivery letters between' the two capitals by air. It takes onlyj about three hours for the trip so that a telegram could be delivered quick er in this manner than by wire. It is probable that a charge of perhaps three francs would be made for the carrying of letters. The line between Paris and Dru3- sels is for passengers and an air plane Is making one trip a week each' way. The fare Is about three hund red francs. This service is a private, enterprise run by one of the big air plane firms, although it is govern ment controlled. '" Two other firms are about to start similar services with the permission' of the government. In view of this' It Is probable that no regular govern-, ment service wilj be established, al-j though of course, military airplanes are carrying supplies and despatches to the front dally. The time requir ed to fly to Brussels from Paris Is about two hours and a half.
