Once more the business men of tbi city are turning toward the Chamber of Commerce for the assistance they need In making the Dargaln Week the unqualified success that It ought to be. One of the things most needed Is an attraction that will conflae the visitors to the main business portion of the city, and It haa been suggested that a street fair would be the best thing to be secured. Those business) men who have been seen expressed themselves aa anxious for the Cham ber of Commerce to take this part of the program In band and make It the crowds, and It would seem that oft noeerslty the exhibits must remain In the city, as tbey did Saat year TliH could easily be done, for the county court would doubtless give the asso ciation the free use of the court hoi.se rrounds, and these weald make an admirable location for the placing of the exhibits. The first problem that ha to be disposed of I whether the Chamber of Commerce will take hold of the street fair. Judge Baldwin -ess asked relative to the probable atti tude of the director oa thla matter, and be said: "Of course, I cannot apeak for the directors. That question must 9 de cided by them aa a whole. Person illy I am heartily la favor of holding i street fair, and bare advocated It for some time, f am glad to hear that business men generally are In favor of the Chamber taking hold of the affair, for It show that thr ap preciate the work that was done on Railroad Day. What we want I to bring In the homebullder of the sur rounding country. We have enjoyed for sosse-atsse a pretty good trade from the salver Lake country, but great change have taken place there during the past year. New settlers nave come In and tbey are unac quainted with the advantages of trad' lag In Klamath Palls. They realise that It Is mcn placing a burden on the shoulders of ,he merchant who have lived her the Chamber that really should be ror nr lengtn of time can readily ap- carrled by the business men them selves. However, It Is better that the Chamber handles such matter Instead of having a separate organlsa' Hon. Tbe business men could organ lio Into an association of their own. but In doing so they would bo pulling away from the Chamber strength that It needs. The question of holding a alr la left to tbe Fair Association. The street fair Is to be held la conjunc tion with the county fair and Bargain Week as the prominent feature of both. The fair association has not yet deeMea e a-aMe'fw tnelMtasag of the fair, but the sentiment aoan to favor the first week In October. sad It Is more than likely that it will be held during that time. Whether It will be held on the fair ground or In the city Is a matter that hai not been decided. The question tt hold ing It on the fair ground I ono that !.i hard to meet Arrangements have been completed for the moving of tho steamer Klamalh to the Upper lake, and It will probably be on thu wa there at the time the fair Is held.
