Miller, one of the leading con tractors of Medford is spending the week at the encampment in Jacksonville, he being a veteran in the 20th-Indiana Infantry. By the following the Oregon Mining Journal sees more evidence that the like lihood is increasing of the long talked-of ami much-hoped for railroad between Grants Pass ami Crescent City is to be built in the near ftitnrl: J. O. B. Gunn of the Union Iron Works.. Willis E. Davis and Col. T. Wain-Morgan Draper of San Francisco, arrived here on Wednesday and on Thursday started south for Waldo. Mr. Gunn is one of the prominent stockholders in the new railroad from Grants Pass to the Coast. We believe they are now here forthepur pose of taking steps to start up the work on said railroad. . C. I). Crain, a stockholder and superin tendent of the Lucky Queen mine in Jump-off Joe district, was in town Tues day of this week with his wife. He con firms the report that the order has been given for the ten-stamp mill ordered from Hammond Manufacturing Co., whose mills have given good satisfaction wherever used. They are now making preparations for the installing of the plant, and development work is steadily going forward.
