N. Porter, who was seriously ill. Mr. Porter died on Friday. All the women of the I’reebyterian church have been invited at attend a no-host luncheon at 1 p. m. Thurs day afternoon, June 20, in Fellow ship Hall. Each is requested to bring her own table service. Honored guests at the affair will include Mrs. Collier, Synodical President, and Miss Hogg, Presbyterial president, as well as four other officers of Presbyterial. Special music will be furnished. From there, they plan to drive on to San Franoisco, Calif., to attend the International Convention of Lions Clubs in that city next week. John Kelly will visit during his par ents’ absence at the home of his 1 brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Barkley, in Corvallis. Dowdy re turned this week from a vacation trip which took them as far south as California and east to Chicago, 111. They said they missed the storms on the trip, and that they could make good time only on the toil roads. The regular highways in the eastern states were slow going because of the many towns on the highway. They came back through Yellowstone National park, and saw much beau tiful scenery. Mrs. Dowdy complain ed about the drinking water on the trip and said it was nice to be back home again.
