influence of chloroform. His father and
wife ware immediately sent for and ar
rived shortly after. When his father
approached tho suffering man he said
“I am shot father.” And when he saw
his wife he said “too bad” “too bad.”
He talked but verv little. The doctors
administered anasthetics all the time
knowing it was impossible for him to
live, they made the end with as little
pain as possible. Mr. Hawley was a
married man about 26 years ot age. His
wife was Mias Emma Smith. They have
one child. Ha was an Odd Fellow being
a member of Plum Valley lodge No., 60.
He was a very fine young man being
held high in the estimation of every one
who knew him. Many are the expres
sions of regret made by his brother Odd
Fellows in this city as tliev are all very
well acquainted with him. The body
was buried Wednesday at 11 o’clock
from the residence of his father at
McMinnville, Friday, August 24, 1888*
