It was interesting und enjoyed by everyone. The art class is getting along nicely. It started a new problem Wednesday. Mrs. O’ Keefe will attend a special music meeting in Portland Friday. We are very sorry that Richard Swayzie has moved from Bonne ville The electric radio-phonograph which tI k * P T. A. has so kindly provided for the school arrived this week It is a fine piece of mechan ism and we expect much pleasure -fro m its use. John O’ Neil is absent from the third grade because of the sudden death of his father. The teacher and pupils extend to John and the family their deepest sympathy. 'I be boys and girls of the third and fourth room are now taking up basketry, having finished their knitting project. < \S< \DE LOCKS IIIHII SCHOOL NEWS ( ID Virginia McMullen) C e leste Coe of Stevenson High School visited school all day Tues day She .fayed with her cousins, Shirley and (lenevieve Woodward, over the Christmas holidays. After the Christinas program the play cast and advisors had an im portant party given by Mrs. Kyle. The evening was spent singing and playing cards, after which re freshment* were served. Those at ti tiding were Marjory Smith, June Hardy, Donna Davidson, Sallie McMullen, Hank Brink and Jim Kyl< Mis* Wetzel and Mr. Fisher, tlie advisors, arrived later. A good time wan enjoyed by all. There is to be a basketball game Tuesday, January 10, at 7:30 p. m. in the Cascade l.«*cks lligb School gymnasium. The Locks Pirates and Stevenson teams are playing. Prices will be 10c and 15c. Come one, come all, and help the boys out. The Camp Fire Hirls met at the Cascade Ixalgc Saturday night for a New Year’s Eve Slumber Party at which not very much slumbering was done. They had a mid-night supper of sausages and went to bed at ubout 4:30 a. m. After a waffle and sausage breakfast they attended Sunday School with cir cles under their eyes from lack of sufficient sleep. Those enjoying the party were Donna Davidson, Sallie McMullen, Eileen Sprague, Verna Weeman, Helen Kosenback, and Virginia McMullen. CASCADE LOCKS HR \DE SCHOOL N EW S (By Esther McMullen) While the pupils of the grade school were having a good time during the Christmas holidays, Mr. Embree and the janitors worked hard re-decorating the rooms, which improves their looks im- rnensely. A bookcase was put in the eighth grade room. The lunch room was opened Wednesday. The eighth grade girls will serve and cook. Vearl Lovgren entered the eighth grade Tuesday. More and more there is a growing feeling that in some way the large numbers of religious sects and denominations ought to find some way of reconciling their differences and uniting their forces at least in some effective working unit that will allow for a reason able measure of success and a more harmonious spirit. With this thought in mind the Oregon Council of Churches, work ing together with the Methodist Church, which has had the only’ organized church in Cascade Locks for a number of years, decided to make Cascade Locks and Bonne- Don’t Forget To .Sec Our Stock O f Standard Ski Equipment Amoth Hardware C iu odo Lockt i ville into a larger pai ish inter denominational church. The idea is that all denominations accepting the faith of Jesus Christ shall have a place where they may worship I • together and work together for a :: common cause and still each and every one retain the |>eculiarities of his particular faith and member ship in his own denomination, but that at the same time he may be an associate member of the inter denominational organization. Of course, the success of this effort depends on the amount of cooperation which is given the I > movement. Everyone of every Christian faith is profoundly urged to rally to the cause. The pastor of the Interdenominational Church is going to spend the remaining four Sunday morning hours in ex planation and exposition of this whole question and urgently in vites all, both old and young, to turn out and hear all about this most important question. The general theme for the rest of Jan uary w i l l be: “ The People’s Church.” Next Sunday the sub ject will be, “ Progress” ; Jan. 15, “ Adequate Vision"; Jan. 22, “ For- ; tified und Fortitude” and Jan. 29, “ Individual Responsibility.” The same subjects will be treat ed at both Bonneville and Cascade Locks.
