Davis, Portland young man, was before Kecorder Howe Mon day on a charge of turning his automo bile between street intersections, he was unable to produce the $!i fine as sessed and instructed Mr. Howe to put him in jail. J. A. Davis, the boy father, appeared on the scene and soon the mother joined the throng in the city recoder's office. Minn., is here visitinir and looking after a ranch place just west of the city. He says that the trend of business conditions toward norma times of pre-war days is becoming more evident every day. October 30, and the following week as apple week, to encourage Washington ians to help eat the 15,000.000 boxes of apples produced in the state. Mayor Caldwell has issued a procla mation calling uMn all good citizens to eat apples during the week. The Chamber of Commerce has sent tele grams to commercial.bodies throughout the state urging campaigns to encour age apple eating. The observance of the week will be attended ;by window exhibits giving suggestions for preparing the fruit for those who do not prefer the apples as they come from the trees.
