Thomas Marshall, superintendent of
the C & N. W. Company s shops at
St. Paul. Minn., is here visitinir and
looking after a ranch place just west
of the city. He says that the trend of
business conditions toward norma
times of pre-war days is becoming
more evident every day. The business
if the railroads, he states, has di
created 20 per cent during the first two
weekB of October. The rail business
is the lightest for the fall period in
many years.
No building is uroinir on." savs Mr.
Marshall, "and 'only crops are moving.
We now have a good surplus of labor.
business generally is dull, but it
shouldn't cause any alarm. It is the
natural trend of things, resulting from
a greater cuuali.ation of supply and
demand. "
