P HOME INDUSTRY DAY Today is Home Industries Day, so proclaimed by Governor Oswald We8t, who says in part in his proclamation: "to make this dav an imnressive object lesson to the whole state there should be some concsrted action toward increasing the demand for Oregon made products. To this end I would suggest that every manufacturing es tablishment in the state close down lor an hour during Home Industries Day and the managers call their employes lugiuner anu give mem a neart to heart talk on the importance of build ing up our home industries and set an example by declaring their intention to use, as far as practicable, only home grown products and home made machinery in their establishments. "I would suggest also that on Home Industries Day every man and woman in Oregon in doing their shopping, pur chase only made-in-Oregon products. Merchants should help by making at tractive window displays of such products. 'I would also suceest that the sub ject be discussed in our public schools and institutions ol learning, in order that it may be impressed upon the mind of the young, for the time will come when these same children must have employment, and unless they can find it with the industries of our state they must seek it in other states. Mason returned from Spokane Monday, after having received the seventh degree of the Na tional grange at meeting held in the Washington city Saturday evening. Mr. Mason was also present for the horticultural meetings at the National Apple show. However, the good roads bills initi ated by the state grange at the recent election still have a great interest for Mr. Mason, lie says that he thinks the bills met defeat because of the fact that they had no distinguishing designation on the ballot. I he thing for us to do who want good roads legislation that is effective ia to go before the legislature and ask for a county enabling bonding act, al though we will have to limit it to two per cent instead of five, because of the harmony bill passed by the people.
