Mr. San ford's borne was at Cascade Locks. where be was engaged in trading with farmers along tbe Columbia, by pur- cnasing live stock ana country pro duce. Mr. Saoofrd wbs born Sept. 22 Vt , and came to Illinois when a small boy and lived until be enlisted in tbe Civil War, where be served font years.
