Growers bave sprayed well and the result will be seen in the prioe offered toi tbe fruit. We expect to get busy soon aud will try to ship several hundred carloads east. However, prospects are now tbat tbe eastern buyers will come out themselves, on hearing news of tbe splendid prospects, and we may not be able to handle aa much ot the crop a we would wish. However, grower will fare well, and tbe money will be spent iu this country." Apple groweri all over the valley are optimistic on the prospect for apples and also as to tbe price to be received. Shipments ot early armies are being made daily, but tbe small lot do not add rapidly to tbe output of tbe district in tbe aggregate. A combination among eastern buyers is about tbe only tbing tbat oan mater ially affect the pi ice of apples on the local market; In fact, everywhere ou tbe ooast. Washington and Oregon apples have made for themselves a place on tbe eastern markets tbat cannot be as sumed by any other section. In pack ing for this trade local house make an euort to secure uniform fruit, good quality in flavor aud a blight ooloi. By careful boxing the fruit bas stood tbe long journey splendidly In the past. Keportg gathered by local dealer from eastern states indicate a rather small crop of good apples this year, while much of tbe fruit, it is said, will not come up to tbe market stand ard. New England has a crop wbiob will, perhaps, harvest one-balf ot the anticipated output. Ohio and West Virginia report practically a complete failure of winter apples, wbile tbe summer Varieties have produced part of a crop. Illionia and Iowa report about balf of a normal crop. livery report leoeived goes to Indi cate activity in tbe northwest orch ards. And, in addition, there is the western market to be supplied, which duriug tbe next year certainly will be double tbat of tbe past year. Many buyer are considering tbe Seattle ex position as one of tbe elements which will enter into tbe winter apple mar ket. To supply tbe Seattle market during tbe winter and early spring, when work at tbe fair ground will be at it beigbtb, will require large ship ments of the fruit and tbis will be furuisbed by tbe eeotiou which offers tbe best fruit and tbe most convenient shipment. While tbe freight rate to tbe east bas been increased, the prioe of fruit will be strong, anyway, and it will not materially affect the ship ment from this section.
