are optimistic on the prospect for
apples and also as to tbe price to be
received. Shipments ot early armies
are being made daily, but tbe small
lot do not add rapidly to tbe output
of tbe district in tbe aggregate. A
combination among eastern buyers is
about tbe only tbing tbat oan mater
ially affect the pi ice of apples on the
local market; In fact, everywhere ou
tbe ooast.
Washington and Oregon apples have
made for themselves a place on tbe
eastern markets tbat cannot be as
sumed by any other section. In pack
ing for this trade local house make
