That any person applying to enter land uuder tbe provisions of this aot eball make and subscribe be fore the proper office an affidavit as required by section 2290 of tbe revised statutes, and in addition thereto shall make affidavit ttiat tbe land sought to be entered is of the character des cribed ia section one of ibis aot, and shall pay tbe tees now lequired to be paid under tbe homestead Ibwb.
