Editor Columbia Register: There was a youug man of good appciftcncc called at my house recently and handed me what is called un "Epitome of the Doctrine of Jesus Christ of the Lat ter Day Saints." To this pamphlet I would like to submit a few thoughts or a little criticism through your valuable paper; for I for one cannot accept their claims to sainthood, or infalibilicy. We read on the Kth page of this tract that the Book of Mormon does not take the plate of the Bible, but is auxiliary to it and corroborates and supports it, to this assumption to this claim I make a most emphat ic denial, insteatl of supporting the Bible and corrolet ating it - it supplants the Bible and undermines it so if we accept Joseph Smith and his so-called revelations and his monstrous claims and absurdities- - we have no need of the old Bible, We might as well shelve it first as last, for it will certainly come to that in the end. If saloons sold goods that benefited the buyer or his family, there would be some excuse for their running on Sunday. But just the contrary is true, the more a man buys in a saloon the less he has, the less his family has, and the less capable he is of doing his next days work.
