OREGON SUNDAY, DECEMBER 29. 1863 Find ley-Leek Rites Miss Patricia Ann Leek be came the bride of Dwight Holmes Findley in two o'clock afternoon rites held Saturday, December 21, in Medford First Methodist Church. Dr. George Rosebeny officiated. The wed ding and the reception which followed were among the large social gatherings of the season, with about 300 guests attending. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Leek, 1530 West Main Street and the bride groom is a son of Dr. and Mrs. D. H. Findley, 737 Stevens Street. Mr. Leek escorted his daugh ter to the allar and gave her in marriage. The bride's gown was of peau de twillc with fitted bodice, tapered sleeves and Sabrina neckline. The full skirt was accented at the back with a self-material bow and design ed with chapel train. A crown of seed pearls held her elbow length veil and she carried white roses and orchids. Mrs. Steven Wisely, Eagle Point, was matron of honor and Mrs. Kenneth Leek. Portland, a sister-in-law and Mrs. Robert Glover, Grants Pass, were bridesmatrons. Miss Betty Ar nold, Long Beach, Calif., was the bridesmaid. Wear Gold Brocade Their frocks were of gold bro cade with A-line skirts and Sa brina necklines. They carried bouquets of chrysanthemums. William Cochran, Grants Pass, was best man. Seating the guests were Leroy Nceley, Bend; Gordon Smith, Dallas, Tex.; Malcolm McNeil, and Walter Garner, both Portland, and Arthur Ekerson, Medford. White flocked trees hung with , golden balls, and baskets of chrysanthemums decorated the church. I Maynard Hadley was soloist. The reception was given by ! the bride's parents in Mon Desir Dining Inn. Mrs. Alton Ander i son and Mrs. Frank Boone re-1 ceived the guests. Serving the !cake were Mrs. Neeley, and , Mrs. Cochran. Pouring punch were Mrs. Gerald Bartz, Salem, Miss Joann Kerr, and Miss Car- ma Hovdey, both Portland. Mrs. Ekerson served the coffee. The bridegroom's mother chose a blue peau de twille frock with matching accessories and she i wore a gardenia corsage. To Lake Tahoc The couple made their wed 'ding trip to Lake Tahoe. Their , home is at 10825 Southwest Bamed Road, 3, Portland. The bride's traveling attire was a light green knit suit with camel colored mohair coat, and vel j vet hat. Her corsage was an ! orchid. I The bride and her family I have lived in this vicinity for the past 13 years and the bride groom was born and reared in Medford. Out-of-town guests included Mrs. Robert Wulf and sons, Robert Wulf Jr., and Mark Wulf, and Mr. and Mrs. Bartz, all Salem; Mr. and Mrs. A. L. ;Lent, Grants Pass; Mr. and I Mrs. Harold Thompson a nd Mrs. James Tetrick and son, Todd Lee Tetrick, all Klamalh Falls. Mrs. Bartz is a sister of the bridegroom and Mrs. Lent his cousin. Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Tetrick are aunts of the bride. Following the wedding re hearsal the bridegroom's par ents entertained at dinner in Rogue Valley Country Club. Twenty - four guests attended. Gold and green decorations in the Christmas theme were used. The bride attended Medford High Schooi and Southern Ore gon College. She is a teacher in the Beaverton School System. The bridegroom attended the same schools and also Portland State University. He is associa ted with Dean Vincent, Inc., Portland. Marriage News Received Here News of interest here is of the marriage of Peggy M. Clay and Theodore W. Klett which was an event of December 19, in Holly wood, Calif. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. A. H. Miller, Medford Plaza Apartments, and a sister of Mrs. Robert Emmens 1511 East Main Street. The newly married couple now reside at 1321 Morningside Drive, Burbank, Calif. Visits Among students home for the holidays is Keith Harrison, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Harri son, 1382 Kings Highway. He is a graduate student at Vander bilt University, Nashville. Holiday parties, vary ing from small groups of close friends to large events in homes and private clubs, are being given this week end and New Year's Eve. Snow and ski fans, of course, are taking every opportunity to indulge in their favorite winter time sport and especially wel come the snow falling in the close-by hills. Rogue Valley Country Club will be the scene of the tradi tional gala New Years Eve formal dance and dinner party. Many new club members will attend the annual event for the first time, and other members have houseguests who have re turned here to attend the gay party, as they have done for the past several years. Reservations are closed, James J. Dunlevy, club man ager, announces. The committee in charge is made up of Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Browns, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas VV. McFadden, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Curl and Mr. and Mrs. William MacNeal. The event will open al 9 p.m. with refreshments and hors d'oeuvres and a buffet dinner will be served from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Breakfast will be served from 12 midnight to 2 a. m. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ellis arc general chairmen. They also are members of the decorating com mittee with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Graham, Jerry Ernst and Rob ert Babcock. The Grahams also make up the door committee. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Dickey and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Olson entertained at a cocktail party Friday evening in the home of the Olsons, 100 South Grovcland Avenue. a crown trimmed with seed pearl flowers, had been pur chased in Sweden and was loan ed by a college friend of the bride. The bridal flowers were red roses arranged in a cascade. Sister Attends Bride Miss Diana Mac Hunter, Port land, a sister of the bride, was honor attendant and another sister, Miss Veda Joy Hunter, was bridesmaid. Mrs. Delbert Mayfield, Central Point was the hridesmatron. Lighting the candles were Carolyn and Kathy Ruth Shodin, Bellview, Wash., cousins of the bride. The bride's attendants wore Christmas green satin floor -length gowns and carried white fur muffs decorated with sprigs of holly. Their green satin pill box hats were trimmed with holly encircled in net. The candlelighters wore white choir robes. Gilbert Cuddeback, Eugene, a student at Linfield College, served as best man. Stewart Young, and William McDowell, Pullman, Wash., a brother of the bridegroom, seated the guests. White chrysanthemums and holly decorated the church. Attendant Sings Miss Diana Mae Hunter, the honor attendant, sang and Mrs. N. S. Thames was organist. The bride's mother was dres sed in a cranberry red velvet sheath frock and her corsage was of gardenias. The bride groom's mother chose a light green brocade jacket dress and she wore a red rosebud corsage. Some 200 guests attended the ceremony and about 150 were at the reception given by the brides parents in the church rooms. Alaskans Visit Relatives Here Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ellis and children, Miss Ruth Marie Ellis, and William John Edward Eu gene and Steven Richard Ellis, arc visiting for the holidays from Anchorage, Alaska, with Mr. Ellis' parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Ellis, Sams Valley. The visitors are former Med ford residents. They lived here (or about eight years while Mr. Ellis was a member of the Bur eau of Reclamation staff work ing on the Talent Project. They have lived at Anchorage for the past one and one - half years. Keatings Hosts To Houseguests ASHLAND Houseguests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rod ney Keating, 148 Valley View Road, Ashland are Mr. Keat ing's daughter, Miss Lucy Keat ing, a freshman student at Uni versity of Oregon, and Mr. and Mrs. John Dinwiddy and infant child. Mr. Dinwiddv, a son of Mrs. Keating, attends the Uni versity of California at Berkeley. Timothy Keating who is serv ing with the Navy as a lieuten ant junior grade, and Miss Marianne Keating, a student at Welleslcy College, Wellesley, Mass., could not be home for the holidays. Members of college chapters home for the holidays and their mothers and all Sigma Kappa alumnae in the Rogue Valley are invited to attend. Daughter Here With Relatives Miss Judy Bullis, Portland, is visiting her father, Tuny Bullis, and grandfather, Seth M, Bul lis, 15 Florence Avenue, Med ford. Miss Bullis, a senior al Madi son High School, will return north this week to resume her studies. Mayor and Mrs. James Dun levy were hosts last Sunday for a dinner which observed the 18th birthday anniversary of their daughter, Judy. Hawks Arrive From Illinois ASHLAND - Mr. and Mrs. Friday evening Eugene Ben nett, the artist, invited a group o( (riends and relatives to his homc on Third Street in Jack sonville (or a holiday dinner. The house, almost 100 years old, has been renovated by Mr. Bennett and furnished with heir looms and antiques in keeping with the house and historic Jack sonville. His holiday decorations in clude a copy of his Christmas greeting to friends, which con sisted of the alphabet in large, illustrated letters of the year 1884, hung on the door pane. Scores of Christmas cards and greetings from friends are ar ranged throughout the various rooms.
