4 C Bedford Contends At Willamette High Mcdford High's Black Torna- according lo the coach, hut is do cagers played Willamette a couple weeks back. They play Willamette this Friday and Sat urday. But, don't get those Wil lamette's confused. The Tornado opened the hoop season against the Willamette University jayvces. This week end. in its first road trip of the season, Medford will encounter Willamette High School varsity at Eugene. The non-loop series will help each club get an idea of how it may fare against a rival in its own league. Medford, of the Southern Oregon Conference and rated No. 2 in the state, has split a series with South Eugene, the top ranked A -1 team and a member of the Mid western Loop. Willamette, of the Midwestern, has bowed to Ashland, of the Southern. Has Played Four Medford has played four games so far this season. Wil lamette has had just the game with Ashland, so far as can be learned. Coach Chuck DeAutremont at Willamette has tall men in John Hosso and Lee Mcrwin, (1-4. Other possible starters are Ter ry Slahcl, Gary Ross and Bill Keithly, all under 6 feet. Stahcl was a regular last year and Itosso saw part - lime varsity 1 1 1 1 v . The Wolverines ri'porlrrilv arc a fairly quick team. lloAiitrr mcMil has said that, if the tall mm rebound and score well, Willamelle will have a pretty lough ball club. This will mark the third suc cessive year of rivalry between Medford and Willamette. The clubs met twice last year and once in IWil. Medfu, .1 has won all Ihree past contests.
