fW". 1 "1 i!S,.l'J,i"!l!"W Medford Tribune The Medford Armory was filled with color and glitter Saturday, December 7, when Shriners from all over Oregon and several other western states attended the annual Potentate's Ball of HHIah Temple. Wearing bright satin robes and headdresses and golden slippers, members of the Coos and Curry Shrine Club Oriental Band presented one of the brightest spots in the big building. Pictured here as they waited their turn to play are (left to right) William Lizer, Henry Huotari, Verle McCurdy, Frank Whitlock and Jack Calhoun. Holiday Balli Past Potentate Earl T. Newbry, father of the illustrious potentate, and Mrs. Newbry were among the special guests introduced and escorted at the ball which honored their son, lyndel Newbry. Pictured with the Newbrys is Hal Esselstrom, Roseburg, who served as their escort as they walked between the rows of assembled Shrine nobles. Mrs. Newbry's gown was of peach colored satin. Harper, Ret., and Mrs. Harper, who were among the guests at the annual Military Ball held December 7. The Harpers came here from Ft. Hua chuca, Ariz., and are now making their home at 113 Valley View Drive. Mrs. Harper's gown of silk brocade was de signed in the oriental fashion. Newbry of Jackson County and Mrs. Newbry. Potentate Newbry Is also an Oregon slats senator, Mrs. Newbry wore a pale blue satin gown with em broidered top for the ball, A. K. Morse (center), Medford, was chairman of the Hillah Temple ball which hon ored Illustrious Potentate lyndel Newbry. For the formal party Mrs. Morse wore a blue velvet gown. Hal Esselstrom, Roseburg, member of (he temple guard, es corted the couple. Mrs. Murray S. Gardiner, queen of Zuleima Temple, Daughters of the Nile, and Mr. Gardiner are shown at the left as they awaited their turn to be Introduced to the large assemblage. Mrs. Gardiner wore a satin gown with floral design. ' f 1 5- w. Maior William C. Tycer was chairman of the annual Military Ball held December 7 at Rogue Valley Country Club. Ball preparations were a "family affair" since Mrs. Tycer, a professional decorator, planned and executed the club's elaborate holiday decor.
