The Princess said she hopea to visit with Mrs. Kennedy and express her personal con dolences. (UPI) Lake Creek Clubs Hold Achievement Night for 4 Three members of the Lake Creek 4-H clubs were presented 4-11 county achievement awards and one member received spe cial recognition of her excel lence in 4-H club work in Jack ton County and the Slate at the annual Lake Creek 4-U achieve ment award program recently at the Lake Creek Grange Hall. Dale Hocckcr, Jackson Coun ty 4-H agent, made Ine pre. sonta lions. Laura May Noble, member of Ihe Rancheros Horse and WraiiBlers Beef Club, was pre. senlrol Iho senior beef county medal (National awards pro gram) for top beef record book, and the county record book medal for senior horse project. Hoccker also presented Miss Noble the Dad Potter award pin. Ho congratulated her on being the first Jackson County 4-H member to receive the award. Dud Potter Award The Dad Poller award In 4-11 Horsemanship is presented by E. L. (Dad) Potter, professor emeritus in animal husbandry from Oregon Stale University, and is Intended to encourage :4-H club work, particularly in precision horsemanship. Other 4-H club members re reiving county medals were Tom Perry, outstanding record book for intermediate beef; and Gail Perry, junior horse record book. Elaine Meyer, member of the Eyes and Knives Cooking Club, received the Oregon Wheat Commission award lor inter mediate bread baking. Best senior hook award went to Linda Armilage; intermediate, Bob Armilagc; junior, Dale Johnston; and beginner, Nan cy Stanley. The Brownsboro achievement trophy was won by Gail Perry. Miss Noble ussistcd by Mary Ann Gardner, presented club members with a ribbon name tag token. The junior leaders complimented Mr. and Mrs. Mclvin Johnston on their help with the camp out; Mrs. Lester Bradshaw for making Ihe club parade flag; Hie Brownsboro and Lako Creek store for the display in observance of Nation al 4-11 week, and parents and club members (or their coopera tion in helping them complete their Junior leader goals. Principal Quits After Criticizing Student Applause WOODLAND, Ga. (UPl)-Thr principal of a grammar school has resigned after refusing lo back down from his criticism of students' Applause at the news of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. Joseph ParKm, in c L.'er the Atlanta Constitution, charged that "a parent, who by flaunting the law, tolerating hatred and scorning justice, brings n child to hale ..." He said criticism touched off by the letter wns "almost unbear able." The Woodland City Council passed a resolution censuring Parham and declaring his letter "docs not adequately express the attitude of the Woodland people." Talbot County School Super intendent Hugh Dixon said Par ham "has ended his usefulness here." In the letter Parham said that lt-and 12-year-old students applauded when told of the late President's death. Parham refused to appear at a parent-teacher association meeting Thursday night at the urging of Talbot County offi cials "lo apologize" for the let ter. He said he resigned, effective immediately, because "the ten sions, misunderstandings and animosities would be greatly lessened by my absence," Electric Power Out Following Accident EVANS VALLEY - Between 25 and 30 electrical customers in the Wimer and Pleasant Creek areas were without power for a while Wednesday night, as a result of an auto accident. A car hit a Pacific Power and Light Company pole about 6:45 p.m., breaking a wire.
