MEDKORD, OREGON' Qmrch Rites Wed Pair SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8, 1963 JACKSONVILLE - Mr. and Mrs. James George Walker are living at 4585 South Pacific High way, Phoenix, following their wedding trip to Southern Cali- iornia, Las Vegas and Reno, Nev. tne bride, the former Miss Diana Rose Maddox, is a daugh ter ui mr. ana Mrs. Rupert B. Maddox, Route 2, Box 2, Ster ling Road, Jacksonville. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lester C. Walker, Route 1, Box 212, Talent. The Rev. William McLeod of ficiated for the ceremnnv and celebrated the nupiiu! inassi No- vemDer a at 9 a.m., in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Maddox escorted his daughter to the altar. The bride's gown was fashioned with long sleeved bodice and over skirt of Chantilly lace over pleated nylon net. A bow accent ed the scalloped neckline and a crown trimmed with seed pearls and sequins held her elbow length veil of nylon tulle. Her bouquet was of white carnations centered with a white orchid and she carried a lace handker chief which had been carried by her grandmother at her wed ding. Sisters Attend Bride Mrs. Clyde Smith, Eugene, was matron of honor for her sister, and another sister, Mrs. Earl Brown, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Lester S. Walker, Talent, a sister-in-law, were bridesma trons. Miss Barbara Nisle, Ash land, was bridesmaid. Bonnie Sue Maddox, Jackson ville, a niece of the bride, was flower girl and David Michael Smith, Eugene, a nephew, car ried the rings. Marie Ann McKee, Medford, and Candy Lynn Maddox, Jack sonville, nieces of the bride, were junior bridesmaids. The attendants wore royal blue velvet frocks with bell skirts, matching slippers and crowns with veils. Mr. and Mrs. James George Walker (Simonson-Walkcr photo) bridesmaids and flower girl car ried nosegays of white chrysan themums and the others had cascade bouquets of chrysanthemums. Lester S. Walker was best man for his brother. Sealing the gucsls were Jack Walker, Ash land, brother of the bridegroom, Jack Barrett and Allen Hoff man, both Talent. The bride's mother chose a two-tone brown wool knit suit with matching accessories and the bridegroom s mother was dressed in a green frock with gold accessories. Both had white carnation corsages. Baskets of white chrysanthe mums decorated the church and small bouquets were placed on the altars, white ribbons mark ed the pews. Bruno Pellegrini was organist. Following the rites the bride's parents entertained the guests in the Tally Ho Dining Inn, Tal ent. About 200 guests attended the ceremony and reception. Baskets of white flowers deco rated the inn. The reception table was centered with the wed ding cake and a white Bible was placed on the table. Mrs. Douglas McKee, Mca- ford, a sister of the bride, and Janet Brown, a niece, Jackson ville, had charge of gifts. Mrs. Raymond Maddox, Phoenix, a sister-in-law of the bride, served the coffee and Mrs. H. Chandler Drew, Medford, an aunt of the bride, poured punch. Mrs. Dace Maddox, Phoenix, a sister-in-law, and Mrs. Terrance Maddox, a sister-in-law, served the cake. Mrs. Richard Lee, Ashland, a sister of the bridegroom, regis tered guests. Mrs. Rupert Mad dox had charge of the reception. Bride Is Secretary The bride attended Jackson ville schools, and was graduated from St. Marv's High School and attended Southern Oregon Col lege for two years. She is a sec retary for the Sno Cat Company The bridegroom is a Talent High School graduate, having attended Talent schools for the full 12 vears. He is self em ployed as manager of the Jim Walker Company, Talent. Prewedding events included three showers for the bride elect. One was at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Rose Singler, Medford, given by her cousin, Mrs. Paul Stewart. About 20 guests attended. The second shower was given in the home of Mrs. Dace Maddox, Phoenix, by her sister, Mrs. McKee, Mrs. Raymond Maddox and the host ess. Some 40 persons attended. The third event was given by a sister-in-law of the bride groom, Mrs. Lester S. Walker, Talent, in her home, and Miss Barbara Nisle. About 25 guests attended. Calendar Is Crowded With Yuletide Events By OLIVE STARCHER Dozens of Christmas parties are on the social calendar for coming days. At several of these gifts will be collected for under privileged children, for those in hospitals or confined to their homes. Christmas music will Be presented for others. St. Catherine's Guild Gifts for shut-ins are to be collected during the traditional Christmas party of St. Catherine's Guild. The group will assemble at 8 o'clock Monday, Dec. 9, in St. Mark's Parish Hall, Fifth and North Oakdale Avenue. Members are asked to attach a label to the gift, indicating whether it is suitable for a man or a woman. The program will feature Christmas music, according to Mrs. Sam Janes, chairman. Election of officers for 1964 will follow the report of the nomi nating committee. Mesdames William Ardry, Hale Greenman and A. D. Roach will be the hostesses for the evening. St. Elizabeth's Guild St. Elizabeth's Guild of St. Mark's Episcopal Church will meet Friday, December 13, at 12 noon at the church for the annual Christmas party. Small gifts are to be exchanged. Studio Dance The annual Toys for Tots Christmas party will be given by the Arthur Murray Dance Studio staff and students Thursday, December 19. This event will be open to the public and admission will be one toy. A buffet dinner will be served and music will be furnished by the Caesar Muzzioli combo. The party will be held at the studio, 320 East Main Street. Mothers of Twins Mothers of Twins Club members will meet for their Christ mas dinner and party Thursday, Dec. 12 at 7 p. m., in Ping's Restaurant. The dinner will be a no-host event and those who attend are to take inexpensive gifts. Secret pals will be re vealed. Any interested mother of twins is invited and further informa tion may be obtained from Mrs. Robert Lance, 664-3125. Women of Rotary Women of Rotary will hold a Christmas party Wednesday, December 11, at the home of Mrs. S. R. Dippel, 1 Eastwood Drive. Members wishing to make reservations are to call Mrs. Dippel, dial 773-1856. Luncheon at 12:30 p. m. will be followed by a business meet ing and gift exchange. Those who wish may play cards. Chrysanthemum Circle The annual Christmas potluck dinner is planned by Chrysan themum Circle, Neighbors of Woodcraft, Monday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p. m. at the Eagles hall. Turkey for the dinner will be provided. Each member attending is asked to contribute canned foods for a Christmas basket. A business meeting will follow dinner. The committee is headed by Mrs. George Culy. Lutheran Women An annual Christmas luncheon meeting for all women of Zion Lutheran Church is announced for Tuesday, December 10 at the church. The meeting will open at 11 a.m. Special guests will be women from Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Vreka, Calif., and St. Peter's and Ascension Lutheran Churches of Medford. Mrs. Walter Nunley is the luncheon chairman and Mrs. Jack Teeters is in charge of decorations. The program will be presented by Mrs. Henry Moyer and will be done in the Advent theme. Vocal solos will be presented by Miss Catherine Watson. Security Club A Christmas party and a dance have been announced by Se curity Benefit Club members. The party is to be held Wednesday, December 18 and the dance, Friday, December 20, both in the Pythian Building. The club also will furnish Christmas baskets for needy mem bers. 1 An open invitation is extended to all Interested persons to attend the club meetings, held each Wednesday, beginning at 11 a.m., in the same building. Dismissal will be at 3:30 p.m. during the winter months, instead of 4 p.m., because of weather condi tions, officers have announced. Valley Couple Is Engaged ASHLAND The engagement of Miss Linda Lou Bowen, daughter of Mrs. W. E. Cloud, Ashland, to Larry Gene Maerz, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Maerz, 233 Division Road, White City, has been announced by the bride-elect's mother. Miss Bowen also is a daughter of J. A. Bowen, Trenton, N. J. The bride-elect attended Ash student at Medford Beauty land High School and now is a student at Medford Beauty School. Her fiance attended Cra ter High School and is employed by Fir Ply, Inc. Linda Lou Rowrn News Received Of Engagement TALENT News has been re ceived of the engagement of Miss Joan Cross, Auburn, Calif., and Eldon McGarily, son of Mrs. Roy D. McGarity, Talent and the late Mr. McGarity. The announcement was made by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert C. Cross Jr., Los Angeles, at a family gathering held in the home of the bride-elect's sis ter, Mrs. Robert Long, Auburn. Both Miss Cross and her fi ance are employed in Auburn by the General Adjustment Bu reau. She attended Carlmont High School and is a graduate of the Paris American High School in Paris, France, where her lather was a Civilian Per sonnel officer for Strategic Air Command. The bridegroom-elect Is a Tal ent High School graduate and attended Southern Oregon Col lege. A February wedding is planned. Sarah Jayne Slcinhardt Father Makes Announcement ROGUE RIVER - Evcrtt J. The couple's wedding has been set for Sun day, December 22 at 8 p.m., in Medford First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Glen Fabrick and Mrs. Walter Hinkle entertained at luncheon in the Fabrick home, 2316 Hillcrest Road. He is in Washington, D.C., as a player for the Washington Redskins, professional football team, and is to arrive here December 17.
