West Old Story To LA Lakers By United Press International Jerry West is an old story to the Los Angeles Lakers. The former West Virginia star is enjoying his best season in the National Basketball As sociation and it's coming at a most opportune time with Elgin Baylor slowed a bit by painful calcium deposits. For the second straight time Thursday night, West was in the 30's. He had 31, four under his previous night's perform ance, but it pushed the Lakers past the Baltimore Bullets, 123 115, in a hard-fought game. West had plenty of help from his backcourt mate, Dick Bar nett, who also had 31. Barnett scored 14 of his points in the final period. In Trouble Baltimore found itself in trou ble when Walt Bellamy came up with his fifth personal foul in the second quarter. He played only half the game and scored 10 points. Terry Dischin ger led both clubs with 36 points. The St. Louis Hawks broke a four-game losing streak by downing the San Francisco Warriors, 117-105, in Thursday night's only other NBA game. Cliff Hagan scored 38 points and Bob Pettit added 24 for the Hawks, who ripped off 19 con secutive points in the third quarter to take command. Hefties In Line The Trojans have line hefties in Warren Tanker) Hill, 271; Jerry Langdon, 200, and Larry Kust, 205. Phil Daniels report edly has shifted from center to guard because of injury to Brian Lansing who may or may not see duty this evening. An all-around Phoenix single wing and T attack is steered by Ron Williams. Joining him in the running game are Jim Consbruck, Dennis Grennan, Jon Granby and Dale Sauer. Quarterback Ken Haw kins is certain to see spot service on offense and on punt returns and Halfback Rick Dor- man no doubt will be m action on defense. The Pirates spent time in the gymnasium yesterday and went over defensive assignments.
