Some of the sea' son's favorite looks seem Just made for the junior figure, and noma are new versions of just what the juniors have always approved. The range, casual to elegant, encompasses piemy 01 variety for both fun and flattery. The sporty look brings to the fore many perennials of the jun ior wardrobe, with new-for-fall additions. For most fashion at tention, the look comes in layers skirt plus shirt plus vest plus ' jacket plus coat plus scarf or stole plus knee-high or over-the-knee textured stockings plus boots. Sweaters in layers fea ture turtleneck shells under V-neck pullovers. Not only the layers themselves but the colors and textures are multiplying in fashion. Knotty tweeds, gleaming velvets, sup Die silks are seen in combina tion, and so are many other fab rics and leathers tlulty monair with suede, for example. Colors 0 VERSATILE COAT Versatile coat, featuring wing collar and raelan alcoves, can be worn beltless, half or fully belted. often add up to at least three per ouuit. In consequence of the layered, sporty look, juniors have a vested interest in fashion, with sweater vests, leather vests, plaid, tweed or fake fur vests worn over the long-sleeved blouses or, again, turtleneck sweaters. Almost always on the agenda for juniors, jumpers get fash ion impetus everywhere this fall. Fresh approach is provided by long-sleeved shirts to-wear-or-not with the jumpers. In the fun-filled mood for jun iors are knickers, knickers, knickers part of a little-boy look that's prevalent through out sporty young separates. This is one of the fashions that seems especially fitting for the junior figure. Young set mem bers can wear knickers and little-boy styles with dash and complete femininity, too. Kilties and brief suspender skirts join in the fun. Equally adept at young fig' urine are shift and skimmer dresses and styles with waist' line emphasis placed either high or low. Versatile jacket-dresses and one and two piece knits win favor with juniors. Elegance arrives for dance and party wear and for at-home enjoyment. Crepes, velvets, bro cades and late-day wools appear in all the fall silhouettes, from skimmer to A-line. In junioi private lives are long, long skirts and pants in styles that range from trim knits to ruffled bell bottoms. Coats for day are casual and sporty with raglan sleeves, with detachable scarfs and stoles, with military and "foreign in trigue" styling. Cape influence is both sporty and elegant ex tending all the way from full length cape coats to cape-effects at the shoulder line. Fashion declares "open sea son on fake turs lor tan. for fun and fashion, juniors can wear leopard look-alike, phony pony, make-believe mink and zebra parkas and sportive styles. The fabulous fakes look particularly new as coat linings. In both lingerie and loungewear, the preference is for uncluttered, natural shapes in elegant fabrics, colors and prints. Loungewear is often flatter ingly floor-length, inspired by the long look fashion loves for evening. In lingerie, the trend is to co-ordinate color, print and silhouette line. Underneath it all, fall fashion ables will be wearing full-length slips with flattering higher waistlines or new molded bodices for a smooth underline; brief chemises for a pretty and prac tical snort-cut under lined dresses; and half-slips or petti- pants in a variety of prints and colors. Colors Go Pretty Long, slim petticoats take their place beneath fall's long evening gowns and to-the-floor at-home fashions. Undercover color goes all the way from pretty to primitive for fall. Black and white is a fashion-right color combinatin espe cially when one or the other is lace. Lingerie 's newest 'neutrals" are excitingly differ ent tones such as wine red and mimosa yellow. (UPI) - 01 Dobbin can relax, the threat of the glue factory no longer hangs over his hoary head. Today's adhesives industry is a highly competitive search for newer, lighter and tougher syn thetic resins which can patch human arteries or bold a space capsule together. The U. S. department of agri culture's economic research service reported recently that Americans annually use about 2 billion pounds of adhesives each year. These chemical bonding agents play a large role in the space race, military program ming, road and skyscraper con struction, home building, furni ture, clothing and packaging. In the last 20 years, glue in a variety of forms has in many fields replaced screws, rivets, nails, pegs and soldering. It takes nine specific glues to enable you to light up that smoke, including those used in packaging and shipping. The medical profession has successfully used bonding agents to repair numan arteries In delicate brain operations and in treatment of aneurysms. Oth er epoxy resins are employed to weld broken bones in humans and animals. Spray Arteries One of the first to bring resin into the operating room was Dr. Bertram Selvcrstone, of Tufts university medical school, who began spraying bulging arteries with the clear resilient glue in the late 1950s. A new product on the market, identified as "resiwell 620" by its maker, is billed as "stronger than concrete, harder than gran ite, almost unbreakable, resist ant to chemicals, weather and the thaw-freeze cycle." The material is viewed as a boon to state and local highway departments faced with annual spring road depredations and high repair costs. The garment industry is head ing for the day when entire suits will be assembled with near perfect seams through use of adhesives. New bonding agents are replacing the thread and nails in shoes. Aircraft Uses Present aircraft adhesives are designed to withstand about 500 degrees Fahrenheit, but synthetic glues which will take tempera tures up to 1,000 degrees and higher are on the horizon. Today's automobile contains between 8 and 25 pounds of ad hesive material but the day is, coming when an entire car will be free of screws, solder and rivets, it is predicted. Present construction and main tenance procedures will be great ly altered by the emergence of new glues, Smith said. "The practice of bull-dozing out a space in the dirt and dumping several thousand parts into the mud and then labori ously assembling all these parts by hand just cannot be contin ued," he said. "In the near fu ture, houses will be prefabri cated and assembled within a mere fraction of the present field time. Showing Layered Look Fashion's new layered-look is interpreted in sleep-sets that go from bed to breakfast in style. Most often, these pair gowns, shirts and sleep-shifts with their very own jumpers, tunics or wrap skirts. Many of these are flatteringly and fashionably high-waisted. Cuffs, Shoulder Lines Get Attention With fashion interest shifting strongly to sleeves, cuffs as well as shoulder lines come in for a greater share of attention this ' season. Favorite treatment is the lit tle roll cuff, with the sleeve soft ly gathered into it. This type of cuff often is accompanied by a matching roll collar. (UPI) - Shipboard noisemakers are the targets of a new supersensitive listening device developed by ACF's electronics division here for the Navy. However, "noisemakers" in this case are more likely to be vibrating machinery than cele brating sailors. The device is expected to aid national security by helping the Navy find wajs to make ships, particularly subs, run more quietly to escape detection.
