FHIUAY, Southern Set Annual Meeting The Rev. G. 0. Skaar, pastor of First Southern Baptist church, has chosen for his sermon Sun day morning a message on "A Mind To Work." At the evening service he will continue in his series of sermons on the Ten Commandments. His topic will be "Respect for Property." The annual meeting of the Siskiyou Baptist association will be held starting tonight and continuing through Saturday, Sept. 21, at the First Southern Baptist church, Grants Pass. Tonight's session will begin at 7 o'clock with the annual message by Mr. Skaar. The Rev. Austin Lovin, area mis sionary for southern Oregon, will deliver the missionary ad dress. Saturday's sessions will be Christian Workers School Scheduled Dr. Meredith Groves, execu tive secretary of the Oregon Conference of the Methodist church, will be the guest min ister Sunday at First Methodist church. His topic will be "My Christian Witness". Dr. Groves is a former minister of the local church. Soloist will be Mrs. D. G. MacDoueall, singing "There Is a Balm in Gilcad." The youth choir will sing "Break Forth Into Jov" at 9:30 a.m. and the chancel choir will sing "I Will Extol Thee. 0 Lord," at 11 a.m. The Christian Workers' school for the Rogue River Valley sub district will be held in the church Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m. The classes are for all commis sion members, church school teachers and workers of all Methodist churches in the val ley. Mrs. Robert France, Med ford, it dean and registrar. The opening address "Our Mission Today" is by the Rev. Ed Asch enbrenner, Eugene district su perintendent. Song leader will be Mrs. Ralph Richardson, Klam ath Falls, and Mrs. Leo Taylor, Medford, is organist. An audio visual class will be taught by Mrs. George Blin horn, Eugene. A snack supper will be served by the Woman's society of Christian Service. The Junior High MYF will have a fireside at the home of Larry Duysen at 1556 Jasper st. Transportation will be provided from the church at 6 p.m. Larry Duysen and Peter Sage have devotions. The Senior High MYF will have their regular meeting Sun Crusader Youth to Affend Rally Crusader youth of the Four square churches of Southern Or egon will meet for a rally in the Coquille church tonight at 7:30 o'clock. The film, "Revolt in Berlin" will be shown during the eve ning service. The Crusader youth groups from Winston, Roscburg, New Hope, Coquillc, Grants Pass, Ashland and Medford churches will participate in Bible quizes. The Rev. K. L. Mathewson, pastor of the Medford church, will speak at the Sunday 11 a.m. service. The choir will pre sent a special number during the offeratory, under the di laction of Mrs. Loyd Rasmus sen. Miss Gail Trimble will ac company at the piano and Miss Gloria Hasmusscn at the organ. Mr. Frost, a layman in the Ro s e City Park Methodist church, is with the soil conser vation service as director of the Oregon snow survey. Until ten years ago, he was a Medford resident and teacher of the Builders' class at First Method ist church. He is in Medford this week end to teach a course in adult work for the Methodist Christian Workers' school for the Rogue River valley at First Methodist church. His sermon topic at St. Luke's will be: "11 o w Big Is Your tiod.' He will be accompanied by his wife, Hazel, who is audio visual resource librarian for the Oregon Annual Conference of t h e Methodist church. Mrs. Frost will also be a member of the faculty of the Christian Workers' school, teaching the course in audio-visual resources. Meeting Changes Noted by Lutherans The senior choir of Ascension Lutheran church has changed their meeting to Thursday at 7:30 p.m. as a more convenient time. The Adult Instruction class will hold its first meeting to night at 7:30 o'clock and the confirmation class for young people is at 10 a.m. Saturday. Also at 10 a.m. on Saturday will bo the junior cnoir directed by Mrs. Roy Miller. There will be a vote by ballot Sunday to determine whether the worship should be set at an earlier time, and if so, the Sunday school will be changed accordingly. The Rev. Robert W. Tull, minister of the church, will preach a sermon entitled, "Is Not Life More Than Meat?" A service of dedication will be conducted for Miss Marilyn Harwood who will begin a year of volunteer service with the Department of Specialized Min isters of the United Church of Christ next month. An offering to pay the cost of Miss Har wood's travel to the Volunteer Service Training center in Pottstown, Penn., will be re ceived. Miss Harwood, 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard G. She has served as president Stewardship Program to Continue The laymen's movement, tilled the Stewardship Enlist ment program, continues at the First Church of the Nazarene, 520 North Holly St., with well over half the amount desired pledged. "Tithing Puts God First" is the general theme of the program. "The Triumph of Faith" is the subject of next Sunday's message at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Harold M. Sanner, pastor of the church. Music for this service, as announced by Perry Chris tiansen, minister of music, will be the sanctuary choir singing "Send Out Thy Light", and a number by the Fishermen male quartet. Crusade To End At First Baptist Evangelist Tom Fair will con clude his current Evangelism crusade with the First Baptist church tonight at 7 o'clock. Kirkland West will continue his sermon series on Romans with "Who Is a Child of God?", using the text, Romans 8:14. The senior hieh choir will sing a traditional French mel ody for the 9:30 a.m. service, titled, "Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence." At the second morning service the chancel choir will present the anthem, "Hear My Prayer, O Lord. Split ses sions will begin that day at church, White City, under the direction of Kenneth Fisher. There will be a general assem bly of all departments with each one having a part in the pro gram. Promotional certificates and awards will be presented by the department heads at the conclusion of the program. "Preamble to Revival" will be the subject of the Rev. R. A. Hadeen at the 11 a.m. worship service. The Scripture portions are Nehemiah 9:1-3, and II Kings 18: 4-7. Dallas Redding will be the soloist during the service with Mrs. Hadeen as organist and Mrs. Lucille Cuddy as pianist. The pastor's message in the 7:30 p.m. service will be on the subject "What Sin Does to the Christian, Sin Takes Away the Soul-Winning Passion and the Power of a Christian." Central Church To Hear Quartet The Northwest Christian Col lege quartet and Dowell Callis, field representative for the col lege, will be guests at the Sun day morning service at Central Church of Christ, 1440 South Oakdale ave. The quartet will sing several numbers at the Bible school opening assembly at 9:45 a.m. and at the 11 a.m. worship serv ice. They will also participate in the Bible school classes. The Grants Pass institute, planned to continue the program begun at a similar workshop in Medford last fall, is being con ducted by the St. Anne's parish unit of the CCD with the assist ance of Sister Jean Marie, SSS, archdiocesan supervisor of tha Confraternity. Among those who will attend the sessions from the Medford area are several student mem bers of the St. Mary's High school Sodality who contribute many hours of work to CCD each year. Program Set of Negro Spirituals EAGLE POINT - A musical program of Negro Spirituals will be presented Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagle Point Community Bible church, South B st. The 25-voice church choir will sing such favorites as "So's I Can Write My Name," "Eze kiel Saw the Wheel," "Go, Tell It On the Mountains," and "No Hiding Place.' The public is invited to attend.
