Newspaper Page TextMssrono mail thuuhe. medfowp. owecow THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER U, 13 Three Tracts of Timber Are Sold By Forest Service Bill Gallentine, Medford, was high bidder this week for 1,965, ooo board feet of national forest timber in the Lake of the Woods Highway Salvage area, Ashland Ranger district, Rogbe River national torest. Forest Supervisor C. E. Brown reported the high bid totaled S48.384.7S. The forest service ap praised price was $47,378.50. Next high bidder in the oral auction for the timber was Ko fi a p Manufacturing company, Medford. Timber in the unit consisted of 875,000 board feet of Douglas fir bid at $32.25 per thousand 310.000 board feet of pines bid at $25.80 per thousand, and 780, 000 board feet of white fir and other species bid at $15.60. Wilson High Bidder Steve 0. Wilson, White City, was high bidder for 3,900,000 board feet in the Upper Flat Creek Blowdown area, Prospect Ranger district in another sale. The high bid totaled $23, 535.60. Forest service appraised price was $23,516.10. Next high bidder was Medford Timber company, Medford. Timber in the unit consisted of 390,000 board feet of Douglas fir bid at $5.30 per thousand, 2, 970,000 board feet of Shasta red fir at $3.80 per thousand, and 540,000 board feet of white fir and other species bid at $3.60 per thousand board feet. Wilson also was high bidder for 225,000 board feet in the Fos ter Creek blowdown area, Union Creek Ranger district. The high bid was $4,373.50, compared to the forest service appraised price was $4,370. Next high bidder in this sale was Estremado and Sons, Gold Hill. Timber consisted of 80,000 board feet of Douglas-fir bid at $25.75, 70,000 board feet of pines hid at $24.05. and 75,000 white fir and other species bid at $8.40 per thousand board feet. Kennedy Flying To New York Tonight WASHINGTON (UPI) - The White House has announced that President Kennedy will fly to New York tonight in advance of his address Friday before the United Nations. Kennedy plans to leave shortly after a 5 p.m. (edt) con ference at the White House with a delegation of seven Negro in tegration leaders. He will spend the night at the Carlyle Hotel in New York. Following his speech before the U.N. General Assembly, the President will fly to Newport, R.I., late Friday afternoon to spend the week end with nis wife and two cnnaren.
