Locals Sale Planned Phoenix Grange will hold a rummage sale at the Fehl building, 108 North Ivy St., Friday, Sept. 13, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sale will also include white elephant, bazaar and produce items. Friday Sale The Second ward Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold a rum mage sale Friday, Sept. 13, at the church, 648 South Ivy st. from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clean clothing will be featured. Lumberjack Breakfast The Talent Lions will hold a lumber jack breakfast at the Talent city hall Sunday, Sept. 15, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Lion's educational fund. In Who's Who Two Med ford men and one from Grants Pass are in the World Who's Who in Commerce and Industry. They are Elmer R. Bashaw and Albert S. Cummins, Medford, and Sidney Bazett, Grants Pass, according to the editors. Building Permits Building f permits have been issued by the Medford building department to t William L. Attends Meeting Dr. Earl F. Bradfield, Medford, attended the quarterly executive board meeting of the Oregon Associa tion of Chiropractic Physicians at Coos Bay recently. Army Field band is scneduled to arrive in Medford this afternoon and will play re gardless of the weather. If the weather is stormy the public concert will be presented in the Medford Armory. If the weather is fair it will be played in the Medford High school foot ball stadium. Time of the con cert is 8 p.m. A police escort will accom pany the band from the city limits to the Medford hotel, where a reception has been planned by Mayor James Dun levy, who will present the key to the city to Maj. Robert Bierly, conductor of the band. Participating in the welcoming ceremonies will be representa tives of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the National Guard, the U. S. Army, Medford School District 549C, and the Medford Recreation department. Two Accidents Are Checked by Police Two non-injury vehicle acci dents in Medford were investi gated by city police Wednesday. Two drivers were cited, officers said. Arthur William Thompson, 78, Coquille, was cited for defective equipment after his car collided with s vehicle operated by Myr tle Irene Andrews, 49, of 525 North Riverside ave., about 10:50 a.m. at 12th st. and River side ave. Charles Phillip Nelson, 74, Rogue River, was cited for fail ure to yield the right of way after his car collided with a ve hicle driven by Scott Victor Da vis, 83, of 1914 East Main St., about 1:05 p.m. on Bartlett st. between Main and Sixth sis. Body of Former Ashland Man Found ASHLAND - The body of Kenneth Caton, 38, former Ash land resident and son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Caton of 753 Park St., was found Tuesday night in the Columbia river, where he was drowned Sept. 5. The body was found about three miles down stream from where Caton was thrown into the water as his motor boat overturned. Military graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Goldendale, Wash. Relatives believe that Caton, an excellent swimmer, was in jured when the boat overturned. A native of Klamath Falls, Caton attended Ashland schools and later served with the Navy i in the South Pacific. The First Avenue Pavilion Death Determined To Be by Drowning The death Monday afternoon of Clinton A. Kissinger, 62, of Eagle Point was by drowning, according to Public Health Offi cer Dr. A. Erin Merkel. An autopsy was performed on the body. Kissinger was swimming with two companions in Hoover lakes near White City when the acci dent occurred. CAMPBELL Funeral services for Mrs. Eth el Alice Campbell, 57, of 714 West 11th st., Medford, who died yesterday, were held this after noon at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel on the North Phoenix rd. The Rev. Fredrick R. Evans of the First Christian church of ficiated. Committal was in Hill crest Memorial park, with Conger-Morris funeral directors in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Campbell was born Feb. 10, 1906, in Roseburg, Ore., and had lived in Medford for 28 years. She was married Dec. 26, 1930, in Grants Pass, to James F. Campbell, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Alison Lucille Arndt, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Har riet Louise Kellenberger, Salem, Ore.; and Mrs. Susan Lila Mil ler, Medford; a brother, Harry Hedgpeth, Weed, Calif.; a sis ter, Mrs. Merle Obenchain, Cen tral Point; and six grandchil dren. LOUIS F. BROWN Mrs. Louis F. Brown, of 728H West 11th St., Medford, died this morning in a local rest home. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Conger-Morris Fu neral directors. MELLIE G. GAY Funeral services for Mellie G. Gay, 86, of 208 Third St., Phoe nix, who died Tuesday, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Perl Funeral home. Dr. George Rosebcrry, pastor of First Methodist church, will officiate. Interment at Siskiyou Memorial park will be private. Mrs. Gay was born Oct. 7, 1876, in Cedar county, Iowa. She had lived in Phoenix for the past 13 years. She was a mem ber of the Woodsman Lodge and a former member of the Meth odist church in Iowa. PETER A. BERGEN ASHLAND Peter Andrew Bergen, 78, of 555 Beach St., Ashland, a retired building con tractor, died in Ashland Com munity hospital Sept. 10. Bergen was born in Marion county, Kas., March 6, 1885, and moved to Ashland from Kem mer, Wyo., in 1945. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Bergen, Ashland; two daughters, Mrs. Audrey Doerr, Sheridan, Wyo., and Mrs. Vir- I ginia Dellerbra, Kiverside, tai ' if.; two brothers, Abe Bergen Portland, and Frank Bergen, Avard, Okla., and four grand children and two great grand children. Funeral services will be held ! at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in the Litwiller Mountain View chapel, Dr. P. Malcolm Ham I mond will officiate. Interment j will be in Mountain View cemetery. HEWITT Earl Henry Hewitt, 75, of 615 South Keeneway dr., Medford, died Wednesday in a local hos pital. Private funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel in the Trees mortuary in Siskiyou Memorial park. The Rev. John O. Reynolds of the Westminster Presbyterian church of Medford will officiate. Private interment will follow in Siskiyou Memorial park.
