The stumpage rates payable for each species will be increased bv the amortization rate in effect for thai species when the unamortized esti mated cost of the main haul roads has been amortized by timber scaled. The unamortized estimated cost is $32,603.00. Amorization rates are: Douglas-fir. $20.78 per M board feet; Shasta red fir, $10.24 per M board feet; and white fir and other species. $4 40 per M hoard feet. Amortization of estimated main haul road costs Is computed on 80 per cent of the estimated timber volume. In addition there Is within the sale area an unestimated vol ume of Douglas-fir. Ioks and peeler blocks, unmerchantable because of defect which the bidder may agree to remove at $0.50 per M board (net. cross scale. The prices bid for stumpage shall be considered as tentative rates subject to quarterly calendar adjustment upward or downward by 0.5 of the difference between the average of the month ly Douglas-fir Region Indices, aa calculated by the Forest Service, or the Western Pine Association Lumber Price Index, for the three previous months, and (he following base Indices: Do ug las-fir 10443(0: Shasta red fir 93.09A: while fir and other sp e c i e s 93.09 fAi. Such adjustments in the price for stumpage shall be applica ble to timber scaled during the three-months period following the quarter for which the adjustment is computed. In no event, however, shall the payment rates for each quarter be less than the base rates as stated above, when the adjust ed rate by species are lower than the base rates, the difference he tween the total dollar value of the timber cut at adjusted rates and at base rates will be recorded for each species. The stumpage rates for any species will not be in creased above the base rate until the subsequent adjusted rates above the base rate develop an accum ulated total dollar value in excess of the recorded accumulated dif ference for all species. Scaled bids will be publicly opened and posted, at the office of the Forest Super visor, at 10:00 A.M.. P.D.T., on September 17, 1963.
