o Try and By BENNETT CERF- pLAYWRIGHT Howard Lindsay is on the forgetful side I when it comes to social functions. He has been known to wander off from one of his own dinner parties for a brief nap and then forget to come downstairs again. For years Lindsay en gaged in a bitter feud with an actor who had let him down and would n't even remain in the same room with him when they met at a party. Then, one night, Mrs. Lindsay was amazed to find him in intimate conversation with the actor across a crowded room. The talk ended in a burst of laugh ter, with Lindsay clap ping the actor on the back. "I wonder what caused Howard to forgive him?" thought Mrs. Lindsay. At this moment Lindsay whispered in her ear, "Who WAS that fellow I just was talking to, anyhow?" Asked in a history class to explain what a mugwump was, one Ingenious lass (who had not done her homework too carefully) explained smoothly, "A mugwump is a little bird sitting on a fence with its mug on one side and its wump on the other." She wasn't too far off the track, at that! Charlie Bradshaw finally found a way to outsmart his foxy wife. He gave her such an expensive set of china for her birth day that she no longer trusts him to wash the dishes. 1963, by Bennett Cerf. Distributed by King Features Syndicate Grange News Eagle Point Grange The Eagle Point Grange met Aug. 20 in regular session with Master Cliff Moore pre siding. He also reported on what could be done in the Little Butte watershed to develop a more stable water distribution. He said that in the last three years there has been a 12 per cent increase in people in the district and it is expected to increase another 12 per cent in the near future. A discus sion followed on the flood control project of the Little Butte creek.
