No longer are stylists creating just the "classic" look In luxury furs, they've leaned over backwards to show that fur can be "sporty and still be elegant. Leading the fur fashion pa rade is mink, especially American-bred Emba mink in the natural colors. Design- era have styled these elegant furs Into sweaters some with ribbed wool or mohair trim - into parkas, into sleeve less tunics or vests. Jackets, too, take on the casual look, with perky notch ed collars, belts of mink or leather or fabric. One designer has styled Tourmaline, Emba natural pale beige mink, into a full- length coat wiin a semi - "; shape, featuring a rounded notched collar, narrow sleeves and has added a belt of stitch ed beige chiHon, wmcn u and then cascades over uie luscious fur. - Still another coat, in ceru lean. Emba natural mm mink. Is double-nreasieu and slim, with a noicnea lar, navy blue leather buttons and calf belt. Perhaps the height of this casually elegant look are the at - home furs. Designed for home entertaining is a m of Azurene, Emoa naiurai blue -grey mink, with gath- ..orf elosvps and two paicn roirotc and for the most glamorous hostess, a sleeve, less, floor length coat of Jas ir F.mha mire white mink, slit to the waist at the sides and sashed and lined In pale green taffeta. O wAILjSGQTT'S pharmacy Cor. E. Main at Riverside Oldest Home Owned Store in Medford 2 Phone 773-8447 the evening with a book It all started when fashion great Norman Norell - who sets so many trends - design ed and created a magnificent bathrobe - long and luxuri ous and meticulously tailored in heavy satin for one of his most elegant Society custom ers to wear for her informal at-home entertaining. One look, and quite natu rally other style - setting ladies wanted equally elegant things with this new feel. Other designers began cre ating. And suddenly this new way to dress at home was more than a trend, ii was a reality. Ankle Longth The look of these new things is long, always to at least the ankle. And the mood is one of easy elegance, often achieved by the use of sump tuous fabric, or unusual com binations of fabrics, making the ornate "hostess gowns" of past seasons very passe. As in all fashion this year, the sportive influence is very much felt. There are lots of off-hand ed shirts, man-tailored or im aginatively softened, but al ways floor length, In uncom mon fabrics such as metallic plaids, laminated jerseys, and even velvets. And there are long skirts. Oakland Boy Dies In Gun Accident Oakland, Ore. - (BPD - Ten- year-old Craig LeRoy Kopp was wounded fatally by a bul let from a .22 caliber rifle near here Tuesday night as he played with a 12-year-old brother. The boy was pronounced dead on arrival at Douglas Community hospital in Rose- burg. He was shot in . the stomach. The brother told authorities the boys had been shooting at hawks and he leaned the rifle against a barn wall. He said his back was turned when he heard the weapon discharge. , Craig was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kopp. some full and fringed, others slim and narrow or saucily slit, to be worn for a real fashion impact around the fireside. Adding more excitement and drama to the picture are such creations as one - piece outfits that look like separates but aren't and new twosomes that often pair a long sleeve less coat over a long print shift-like shirt, or a long jumper over a crepe blouse, slim sweater, or contrast fab ric top. Contrasting Fabrics You'll find flannel being paired with chiffon, velvet with wool plaid, fabric suede with satin, in these fresh and unorthodox new combinations for a zest that's long been lacking in our leisure clothes. Fluid, feminine crepe ap pears often, as a tailored shirt, as long draped col umn, as wide legged culottes with the look of a skirt, to be worn with a fake pony vest or a long sleeveless fake fur coat. , i . There are robes and coats in this new mood, too, but these new indoor coats don't look a thing like the old robes we once knew. They're velvet or satin, deep piled new wools, lavish brocades, fluffy mohairs and mad plaids. But the biggest difference in the coat - to -.robe scene is the new shaping . . . they're cut and seamed with the care ful attention to the kind of detail that has previously been given only to more for mal wear. Easy Shapes These shapes are generally easy, keyed to the sportive mode, and often countrified along true trenchcoat lines. Coats make their strongest appeal when they are part of an ensemble, worn with a coordinated shirt or shift for added color and glamour. Pants have taken on new shapes for this new leisure look, too. Retiring fast from the fashion scene are the once popular velvet capris and tor readors that used to be all one needed for dressing up at home. The new pants are infinite ly more feminine - often giv ing the appearance of a split skirt with their full cut, or appearing in such luxury fab rice as brocades, soft wools and silks . . .or appearing be ruffled and bell bottomed in crepe, or slithering in slinky satin. So when you do your fall wardrobe shopping this year, don't deprive yourself of a wonderful new opportunity to enlarge your life with a de-' Ughtful fresh look In fashion -. .. . a delightful new kind of: clothes.
