Rites Held in New Church First marriage ceremony to be held in the new First Bap tist church of Medford was that of Miss Betty Carol Young and Leland Bryce Peters. The double-ring rites took place Saturday, August 10, at 8 o'clock in the eve ning with the Rev. Bernard E. Andrews officiating. About 250 guests attended. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Young, 727 Alder street, Medford, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Chris tianson, Old Stage road, Jack sonville. Baskets of tangerine gladi oli with traces of greenery decorated the front of the church. Lighted candles and white bows marked the pew ends. Mrs. Albert Gandt of Med ford played the organ and accompanied her daughter, Julia Gandt, who sang. Mr. Young escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. The bride wore a floor length gown of bridal satin which she had fashioned herself. The fitted bodice was designed with a scoop neckline outlined with Beuatiful Mohair suit with gros grain binding . . Styled by Towncliff . . . Leland Bryca Patera (Landii photo) lace appliques and the elbow length sleeves were ornament ed with seed pearls. The pleated skirt was also accent ed with clusters of lace appli ques and seed pearls and flowed into a long train in the back with a butterfly bow at the waist. Carriei Gladioli The bride also had made her elbow-length veil of nylon illusion which was held in place by a crown of pearls. Her wedding bouquet was of small white gladioli in cas cade design. Miss Sue Nelson, was maid of honor and the Misses San dra and Lynda Grimes were bridesmaids. Mrs. George Chambers was bridesmatron. They all wore mint green dresses with scoop necklines and pleated skirts. Their hats were green rosebuds with white net petals and their shoes were of matching green. The maid of honor carried bronze and white carnations and the bridesmaids and ma tron carried bronze carna tions. Candlclighters were Sally Jo Maharry and Nadine Grimes. They wore identical Where you find the clothes you love lo live in! frosted tangerine dresses ac cented at the waist with a bow and their wristlets were of white carnations. The flower girls, Kathy and Cindy Shreeve, Medford, wore dresses of frosted tang erine with scoop necklines. They carried baskets of rose petals which they scattered before the bride. William Hall, Medford, served as best man. Grooms men were Larry Ryerson, Central Point, George Cham bers, Medford, and Jack Young, brother of the bride. Larry Ryerson and George Chambers served as ushers. The bride's mother wore a turquoise and beige sheath with turquoise and black ac cessories. The bridegroom's mother wore a lavender three piece suit with lavender hat and white accessaries. Their corsages were of white roses. Reception In Hall The reception, given by the bride's parents, was held in the new Fellowship hall of me cnurcn. Tangerine colored giaaiom and greenery deco rated the reception tables. Mrs. Thomas Hensley, Corval lis, and Miss Mavis Peters sister of the bridegroom from Tempe, Ariz., cut and served the wedding cake. Miss Mary de Place and Mrs. Donald Tinseth poured the Dunch Miss Sandra Bates, cousin of the bride, was at the guest book. The couple traveled to Portland and the northern Oregon coast for their wed ding trip, the bride wearing a white cotton sheath and tangerine and white access ories. Her corsage was a white orchid from her bridal bou quet. The couple will live at 1345 Don Carlos avenue, Tempe. The bride was graduated from Medford High school in 1961 and was employed as a bookkeeper by John A. Graff Jr., certified public account ant, Medford. The bride groom, also a 1961 graduate of Medford High school, has attended Southern (irennn college and is now enrolled in tne school of architecture at Arizona State university, Tempe. Valley Couple Wed Recently In Church Rites Talent - Mrs Pulh Mir. shall, 135 North Front street, Talent, and Norman Glass cock, 4090 Colver road, Phoe nix. Were marrlprt in an early evening ceremony, Fri day, August 9. The rites were performed by the Rev. J. C. Arnett in the Assembly of God church, Talent. For the ceremony the bride wore a lavender satin sheath dress with white accessories, and a lavender corsage. The couple were attended by the bridegroom's brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harland Glasscock, Phoenix. Mrs. J. C. Arnett had dec orated the church with glad ioli of several colors for the wedding. Wayne King's Band Coming Wayne King's dance band will be brought to Medford Wednesday, October 9, to play for a benefit dance spon sored by the Providence guild of Sacred Heart ios pital. Last year the guild spon sored the appearance here of the Tommy Dorsey orchestra, and several hundred couples danced to the band's music. 1 State Group Meets Here Members of the State Coun cil of Hospital Auxiliaries board of directors met at Rogue Valley hospital Thurs day for the regular quarterly session. Principal business on the agenda was formulation of plans for the annual con vention of the council to be held in Portland in October. Official hostess for the meeting here was Mrs. Paul J. Selby, vice president of the state group, and a mem ber of the Rogue Valley aux iliary. The women were greet ed before the session by Charles I. Gustafson, adminis trator of the local hospital, and at the conclusion of the morning meeting luncheon was served to the group in the board and staff room. In spection tours of the hospital building were made with Mrs. Glen T. Bessonette and Mrs. Keith Gordon acting as guides. Attending from out of town were Mrs. Ralph Johnson, Portland, council president; Mrs. Moyt Kerr, Portland, acting past president; Mrs. Morris Crothers, Salem, secretary-treasurer; Mrs. Doro thy Walker, Salem, director of volunteers at Salem Memo rial hospital; and Mrs. Fred Buell, Springfield, and Mrs. George Curtis, Grants Pass, both area representatives. The women arrived in Med ford Wednesday, and attend ed either the Shakespeare play in Ashland or the Britt Music festival in Jacksonville that evening. Supreme Queen Plans Visit To Zuleima Temple Honoring the order's su preme queen, Mrs. Laurance (Dixie) Layman, Reno, Nev., Zuleima temple, Daughters of the Nile will hold a cere monial at Medford Masonic temple at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 2. A formal ban quent for members and their escorts is planned that even ing at 6:30 o'clock at North's Chuck Wagon. Among the supreme temple officers accompanying Mrs. Layman on her visit here will be Mrs. George Bryant, Coquille, Ore., a member of Zuleima temple who is serv ing as supreme princess Zeno bia. Mrs. Bryant will be toast mistress at the banquet. This will be the fourth of ficial visit made by the su preme queen, who was in stalled in June. She has visit ed temples at Sacramento, Calif., Honolulu, Hawaii, and San Francisco. She will be the guest of Nydia temple Portland, on Wednesday, Sep tember 4. During her stay in Medford, Mrs. Layman will also be hon ored at a no-host luncheon, to which all members of the or der are invited, on Tuesday, September 3, at 12:30 o'clock, at Mon Desir, Central Point. She will be the guest of past aueens of the temple on Tues day evening at a picnic din ner in Lithia park, Asniana, after which the group will at tend the Shakespearean Fes tival. Mrs. Earl Newbry, Ash land, president of the past queen's association, and Mrs. Raymond Retcr, Medford, are in charge. Durhams Visit Ashland Family Ashland - Set. Glenn Dur ham and his wife and their two children, Stephen and Lela, of Fairchild Air Force Base, Spokane, wasn., ar rived Thursday for a short visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Durham, 134 Church street, before going on to Susanville, Calif., to attend a reunion of Mrs. Dur ham's family, the George Brabhams, formerly of Ash land. The following week they will return to Ashland for the golden wedding anniver sary celebration of Mr. and Mrs. Durham. Hosts for the August 27 reception at the Durham home will be their four sons and one daughter. Ashland - Ben Oak Hale, Amarillo, Texas, has been vis iting since last week with his sister, Mrs. L. H. Gallatin, 148 Central avenue. The two have not seen each other for more than 40 years. The bride is the former Sharon Eads, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Eads, 356 South Grove land avenue. Mr. Osborn is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert J. Osborn, 410 Newtown street. The Rev. Wilton Martin of ficiated at the double ring ceremony assisted by the Rev. T. O. Satterfield, maternal grandfather of the bride. Some 200 relatives and friends attended the seven o'clock evening rites. White chrysanthemums and gladioli decorated the church and white satin bows marked the pew ends. Mrs. A. L. Clay was soloist and Mrs. Edward McCullough was organist. Her gloves were of matching lace and her single strand of pearls was a gift from Mts. Susan Eads, ber grandmother. Mrs. Michael Reich was matron of honor and brides maids were Miss Elizabeth Goodson, Central Point, and Miss Carol Dyche. They wore powder blue nylon frocks and carried bouquets of white glamelias, blue leaves and net. Flower girl was Susan McCullough and candlelight ers were Christine Johnston, Klamath Falls, cousin of the bride, and Karen Martin. Gary A. Myers served as best man and seating the guests were Tom and Michael Ginn, cousins of the bride; Dan Osborn, brother of the bridegroom, and John Eads Jr., brother of the bride. Mrs. Eads chose a powder (Lu i photo) blue brocade dress with matching accessories for her daughter's wedding and the reception which followed at Rogue Valley Country club. She wore her white phalae nopsis orchid on her purse. Mrs. Osborn wore a beige lace sheath dress with gold orchid corsage. Recaption Held White pompon chrysanthe mums, white carnations and ivy decorated the country club for the reception. Mrs. James Richeson cut and serv ed the wedding cake with a silver knife loaned by her. Mrs. Charles L. Johnston, Klamath Falls, cousin of the bride, poured coffee and Mrs, Tom Ginn, aunt of the bride, presided at the punch bowl For traveling to San Fran cisco and Lake Tahoe the bride wore a white three piece Italian knit suit with white accessories. The newly' weds will make their home on King street following their return August 20. The bride attended Med ford High school and South ern Oregon college. She is a graduate of Medford School of Beauty and is a beautician at Rose Beauty center. Mr. Osborn attended Medford schools and Southern Oregon college. He is employed in the circulation department of the Medford Mail Tribune. Among the out of town guests attending the wedding and reception were Mrs. Ver- nie Boyd, Eugene, great aunt of the bride; Mrs. Eleanor Unrath, Roseburg, cousin of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Johnston, Klamath Falls, and daughters; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Viebrock, Portland, and sons; Mr. and Mrs. David Osborn, Albany, cousins of the bridegroom, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Duggan, Val- lejo, Calif., and daughters, uncle, aunt and cousins of the bridegroom. Dakota Family Visits Medford Mr. and Mrs. Alvln Kuschel and children, Sandy, Davey nd Kathy, of Williston, N. D., are spending part of their vacation at the home of his brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Kuschel, 706 Pennsylvania ave. Week End Guests Ashland-Week end visitors at the Floyd C. Vogel home, 1315 Oregon street, were Mrs. Vogel's daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert DeVoe I and three sons, Eugene, who were o nthelr way to the Ore gon coast for a vacation. Altrusa Club Plans Annual Picnic Medford Altrusa club mem bers were guests Thursday of Mrs. tola Porterfield, a new member, for a buffet dinner on the patio of the Rogue River lodge ow which she is the owner. While there the women made plans to host a regional workshop for the clubs at Eugene, Springfield, Salem, Albany, Corvallis and Bend, which will take place on Sep tember 22 at the Village Green near Cottage Grove.
