(UPI) College Aid Bill Receives Approval By Vote in House Washington -(urll- Tne con gressional log jam on educa tion legislation was eased again today with House pas sage of a $1.2 billion "bricks and mortar" college aid bill, but no general break was yet in sight. The bill was sent to the Senate where it joins a House-1 approved bill expanding aid for vocational schools. No ac tion has yet been scheduled on either measure by the Senate education subcommit tee. Fate Undecided No decision has yet been made in the Senate subcom mittee to break up President Kennedy s $5 billion omnibus education bill into segments such as college aid. There were indications the question will not be faced for a matter of weeks. There were some privately expressed hopes in the Sen ate that the House might even approve other portions of the President's program-although House leaders expect no such action. Ultimately, informed sources said, the Senate will in all likelihood approve as much as the House has ap proved - and perhaps a little more. Political Support The bill had top-level sup port from both political par ties. The vote for passage was 287-113. The college aid bill would provide $835 million in match-. ing grants and $360 million in low-Interest loans over a three-year period to four-year colleges and universities, graduate schools, junior and community colleges and college-level technical institutes. The bill was the only new school assistance program ex pected to pass this year.
