The selections afforded wide variety for the singer's versatile voice and changing moods. Her ease and radiant personality equalled her stirring depth of tone and range. Accompanist Calvin Knapp, Pacific Lutheran university school of music, gave the best support possible on a spinet piano. Both musicians were at a disadvantage in the low ceilinged room. ASH LA MO, ' Shakespearean Event Judy Bjorlie, cellist, recently returned from a summer con cert tour in Europe with the Pacific Lutheran college group, playing in the Loeillet "Trio Sonata." Choreography and costum ing continue to amaze and de light the spectators. All agree that the dance adaptations are remarkably suited to Eliza bethan instrumental back ground. Symbolism and moods are expressed not alone in attire but in steps and ges tures which at time approach the modern. The dancers, mostly college performers, have an irrepressible bounce and a graceful lissomeness refreshing in a period of stark realism. Dane Suite Again the concert highlight was a dance suite in which varied themes from Shake spearean plays were depict ed by solo and group num bers with instrumental' ac companiment. Lee Ann Allen and Kathleen Barnes, vocal ists, were heard in an Eliz abethan tune, "Jockey Thy Hornpipes," and in a three part suite of contrasting form. Last on the program was Richter's "Sinfonia di Cam era," a spontaneously ryth mic group dance of undulat ing arms, legs, and heads, of swirling skirts and shimmer ing silks, with background music faintly reminiscent of the minuet. Festival concerts are pre sented twice weekly in the Mark Antony hotel ballroom for the benefit of the festi val's collection of instruments and musical scores. W.
