Edward Gorgo Foxley- Jr. (Brainerd pholo) Foxley-Sketer R ites Held One of (he summer's larg est weddings was held July 26 when Mies Roberta Ann Sleeter became the bride of Edward George Foxley Jr., in 4 o'clock afternoon rites in First Presbyterian church. Dr. D. Kirkland West per formed the ceremony. The bride Is a daughter of Mrs. Robert William Sleeter, 39 South Berkeley way, and the late Dr. Sleeter, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edward George Fox ley, Salem. Mrs. Mamie Sleet' er. Rogue Valley Manor, is a grandmother of the bride. Dr. Richard L. Sleeter, Portland, gave his niece in marriage. The bride's gown was Chan-tllly-type lace and silk organ za over satin. The fitted bod ice with scoop neckline and long sleeves was of lace and the front of the sculptured bell skirt was trimmed with Home Rites In Ashland Wed Couple Ashland Janet Irene Bush nell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Bushnell, 265 Third street, became the bride of Harold Bell Jr., Medford, in a morning ceremony per formed July 19 by Bishop William Davis of the Church of Latter Day Saints, at his home on Upper Clay street For her wedding the bride wore a white taffeta brocade frock and carried a bouquet of pink and white carnations, She was attended by her sis ter, Mrs. Evelyn Sollee, whose dress of cocoa brown was ac cented by a white carnation corsage. William Bushnell gave his sister In marriage and the bridegroom's uncle, Reg Dyer, served as best man. Pink gla dioll decorated the Davis home for the service which was attended by more than 30 relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. George Engel were hosts for a reception held in their home at 142 Church street. After a honeymoon in southern California Mr. and Mrs. Bell are at home in Ash land at 32 Granite street, The bride attended the Al bany, Corvallis and Ashland schools. Her husband was ed ucated in Louisiana and is employed in Medford as a tile setter. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Vandersy pen, 324 Murphy road, Med ford. 4 Medford Family Home From Trip . Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Turner and daughter, Patty, 1327 Morrow road, arrived home last week from a month's va cation trip to Alabama and Florida. In Greenville, Ala., they were guests of Mrs. Turner's brother, Robert. Taylor, chief of police of that city. It was the brother's and sister's first meeting On over 25 years. alternating floral and banded lace panels. Fullness from pleats at the hack formed the fabric train. All wore street-length dresses of green lace and satin and carried bouquets of white chrysanthemums. William Y, Burton Jr., Port land, served as best man and seating the guests were Ste ven Reeder, Klamath Falls and Portland; Peter Bergrecn, McMlnnvllle and Portland, and Gregory Milncs, Medford and Salem. Mrs. Norman Thames played the organ, and Miss Mira Frohnmaycr sang Gounod's 'Entreat Me Not To Leave Thee." Bouquets of while gladioli decorated the church. About 200 guests attended the ceremony and the recep tion given by the bride's mother in the garden of the Sleeter home. Mrs. Otto Frohnmayer gr e e t e d the guests. Mrs. William Barker and Mrs. Oscar Heyerman poured the punch. Mrs. A. N. Potter Recent Party Honors Bride A wedding shower whs giv en recently in honor of Mrs. Charles Hans at the home of Mrs. Max Weston, Browncll motel. Assisting Mrs. Woslon with serving were Mrs. Gilbert Hill and Mrs. Dan Haas. Decorations or the occasion were pink gladioli, lily of the valley, and pink candles. The punch bowl was en circled with wedding bells and wedding rings. Attending were Mrs. Rob ert Hord, Mrs. Gilbert Hill. The recent bride whs pre sented cards and gifts from those attending. and Mrs. Charles Barnes served the wedding cake and Mrs. Dunbar Carpenter poured the coffee. Mis Sharon Carr had charge of the guest book. The bride's mother wore a pink dress with lace trimming and matching hat and the bridegroom s mother was dressed in a blue frock and matching hat and accessories. Both had white orchid cor sages. The couple made their wed ding trip to Victoria, B.C., Canada. The bride's traveling attire was a blue and white silk dress which she wore with blue knitted cape and while accessories. They will live in Portland. The bride is a 1963 gradu ate of the University of Ore gon where she majored in medical technology. The bridegroom is entering his thud year In the University of Oregon medical school. He was graduated in 1961 from Willamette university. The bride is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, and the bridegroom of Phi Delta Theta. Out-of-town guests includ ed the bridegroom's parents; Walter Fawcett, grandfather of the bride, and Miss Helen Fawcett, an aunt, both Valle jo, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Thom as Fawcett, an aunt and uncle, San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. Rae Hamilton, another aunt from San Francisco; Mr. and Mrs. Mark Andrews and son, Tom, cousins, and Mrs. Gilbert Fos ter, an aunt, Napa, Calif.; Mrs. Howard Momsen, Sacra mento and Mrs. Richard L. Sleeter, and daughter and son, Carolyn and Richard Sleeter. Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Chris- lensen, 183 White Oak drive, were hosts for the rehearsal dinner the evening before the wedding. Following the wedding re ception a family dinner was served at the Colony restau rant. Visitors Leave For Portland Mrs. Rodney O. Fety and daughter. Miss Claudia Jean Fety, left Friday for their home in Portland after being here for several days. Mrs. Fety. formerly of Medford, is the former Miss Jean Piatt. During thrir stay they visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Leo E. Hoag, 357 Havana street; Mr. and Mrs. C. Z. Boyden, 807 East Jackson street; Earl C. Cad dis, 815 East Jackson street, an uncle of Mrs. Fety; Mrs. George Carter, 821 East Jack son street, and other friends. Miss Carol McKcown daughter of Mr. and Mrs Frank J. McKeown, 516 Wil lamette avenue, became the bride of Lt. Charles C. Dias, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. Dias, Westerly, R.I. in rites held Saturday, July 27 The double-ring ceremony was read at four o'clock in the afternoon in Meeker Me morial chapel, First Metho dist church, by the Rev. John O.- Reynolds. About 85 friends and relatives were present. White gladioli decorated the chancel and altar of the chapel. White satin streamers, bows, and bouquets of white gladioli marked the pew ends. White candles were in the candelabra. The bride was escorted to the altar and given in mar riage by her father. She wore a floor-length gown of white taffeta - lined silk organza fashioned with fitted bodice three-quarter length sleeves and scoop neckline. Her sheath skirt extended into a chapel train and Chantilly lace formed a full length panel down the front of the gown and was repeated on the train. Her veil of hand rolled silk illusion was held by a crown of crystals and pearls. She wore pearl ear rings, a gift of the bride groom and her bouquet was of white roses and steph- anotis. Mrs. Terry G. Sherwood sister of the bride, was honor attendant. Other attendants were Mrs. Frank J. McKeown III, sister-in-law of the bride and Mrs. David Maxwell. All wore identical pastel yellow taffeta lined silk organza dresses, designed with elbow length sleeves, fitted bodices with scoop neckline and over- skirt, with back bow and streamers. They wore match ing bouffant head veils, held by large roses, and carried yellow gladioli. Maynard Hadlcy was solo ist; Mrs. Leslie Boardman was at the organ. Capt. Frank J. McKeown III, brother of the bride, served as best man. Terry Sherwood, brother-in-law of the bride and David Maxwell seated the guests. For her daughter s wedding, Mrs. McKeown chose a dress of champagne colored organza over taffeta with matching accessories. Her corsage was of coral colored gladioli. Due to illness, the bridegroom'! mother was unable to attend. The reception was held at the home of the bride's par ents. The bride's table was covered with white satin with floor - length flounce of while embossed marquisette over satin. Chartreuse tapers were combined with yellow gladioli. The table from which punch was served Was on the patio and was decorated in the same manner as the bride's tabic. Pastel yellow gladioli were used through the home and patio. Miss Pamela Gilkison (Landis pholo) Gilkisons Tell Betrothal News Mr. and Mrs. Ross F. Gilki son, 1411 Crown avenue, an nounce the engagement of their daughter, Pamela, to Richard Hildebrand, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Hilde brand, 2417 Obispo drive, Medford. Miss Gilkison, a student at Southern Oregon college, is majoring in medical and den tal assistance and will com plete her studies next year. She is a pianist, and was fea tured on programs at Med ford High school when en rolled there. - Mr. Hildebrand, a senior at the University of Oregon, is majoring in pre-dentistry and plans to continue his studies in the dental field. No wedding date has been set. Women Entering College Invited to Annual Event Young women of the Rogue valley who are interested in rushing activities upon enter ing college in the fall will be entertained at a dessert party on Tuesday, August 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Floyd H. Baker, 1917 East Main street. Rogue Valley Panhellcnic council members are sponsor ing the party, and fall rushing activities will be explained. Mrs. Monty Penwell is com mittee chairman. Mrs. Robert Harl will pre sent a style show, and Mrs. Carl E. Wimberly Jr., will provide the commentary. Ac tive members of sororities will model. Committee members have asked that active and alum nae members planning to at tend the party be at Mrs. Baker's home at 7 p.m. Wedding Date Is Announced The engagement and ap proaching marriage of Miss Dana JoAnn Smith to Robert Duane Nichols has been an nounced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley D. Smith, 2136 East Jackson street, Medford. Mr. Nichols is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Nich ols, 1606 Highway 66, Ash land. Miss Smith, a graduate of Ashland High school, at tended Southern Oregon col lege, and is now employed by the General Adjustment bu reau, Medford. Mr. Nichols was graduated from Ashland High school, and is employed by Gray's Furniture Barn, Central Point. The wedding date has been set for September 6. Four year - old Meeghan Rians, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. K. Rians, passed min iature baskets of rice. She was dressed in a bouffant frock of white embossed organdy over yellow. Mrs. Ruth Foote and Mrs. William Sherwood poured coffee. Mrs. Gary West and Mrs. C. M. Biddington cut and served cake; Misses M i d a McCabe and Susan Hubbard, San Francisco, served punch. Guests included Clarence Dias, father of the bride groom; Miss Ann Killkaney, Walnut Creek, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. McKeown, grandparents of the bride, Seattle, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. David Maxwell, Klamath Falls. The newlyweds are spend ing their honeymoon in San Francisco and Los Angles, Calif., and New Orleans. For traveling the bride wore a bone colored three piece suit of pure silk, an organza pic ture hat and avocado acces sories. The couple will make their home in Montgomery, Ala., where LI. Dias is station ed with the U. S. Air Force. The bride attended Med ford schools, Southern Ore gon college and Oregon State university, and was employed as a stewardess with Trans World Airlines. The bride groom attended Westerly schools and was graduated from the University of Con necticut in 1962. He was af filiated with Sigma Chi fra ternity. The evening prior to the wedding the bridegroom's parents were hosts for a re hearsal dinner at the Colony restaurant. Deb horah, David and Tresi, 100 Chestnut street, have returned to Medford after living since 1959 in Montana. The couple also lived in Germany for three years where Colonel Whiteley was with the 36th Fighter Day wing. He will leave here for an assignment on Fire island, Alaska where he is to be sta tioned for a year. Mrs. Whitely is the former Miss Lorraine Fritsch, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fritsch, 301 Crater Lake avenue. Gardens Scene Of Club Party man for the dinner assisted by Mrs. Thomas Oliver. Mrs. Charles Barnes was refresh- The gardens of the Edwin R. Durno home, 2512 East Main street, were the scene last week of the Contempor ary Book club members' an nual summer party. Husbands and houseguests of members also were invited and some 55 persons attended. Mrs. J. N. Winton, Eagle Point, was general chairman and Mrs. Durno was co-chairman and hostess.
