LEA MOTORS : TH A IAKTLITT S 12h Riverside FRIDAY, AUGUST 2. 1963 Climax to the tournament will be on Sunday when the men's and women's division winners will compete in semi finals and then finals events for the championships. , Three rounds are scheduled for each of the singles and doubles events which will leave Sunday open mainly for the finals events. However, if more are signed up in the di visions, it will necessitate some semifinal rounds on Sun day. Action is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Competing in the two day event will be three Medford tennis players who recently attended the International Jaycce Junior Tennis tourna mcnt in Provo, Utah. Ken Myers, is entered in junior men's and also will double with Jeanne Salade in mixed doubles. Kathy Smith will be entered in women's singles and doubles matches. Mary Gordenicr, who was a runner up in the 16 and under girl's novice division at Provo, will not be able to compete in the tournament. Entered in men's singles events Saturday morning will be John Root, Ron Singlcr, John McKinley, Orin Ogior, Phil Hplman, Jay Carr, Mike naumes ana Boo null. Competing in the mens doubles matches will be John Root and Ron Singler, Chris and Nick Rasmusscn, Mike Naumes and John McKinley. Fishing Varies in Forest, Report of Officials Shows Fishing is fair at Fish lake, poor to fair on all waters in the Aonlesate area, good on the Prospect ranger district, slow" in the Butle Falls ranger district lakes but bel ter in the streams and fair on the Union Creek district. This is the report for the week end issued by the Rogue River National Forest serv ice in the interests of recrea tion ists. The snow is gone, the trails are open just about any place recreationists may choose to go on the Rogue River forest. Campgrounds on the Ap plegate district are open but campers are still required to check with ranger stations before using Beaver Sulphur and Cook and Green camp grounds. All users are cau tioned against broken glass buried in the snid. Wildflowers in the Dutch man area on the Applcgate district are in full bloom. Heavy logging traffic and construction are mentioned as hazards that motorists should be on the lookout for In sev eral sections. On the Ashland district all roads are open but the Loop and Tolman roads should be entered with caution, foresters warn, be cause of construction traffic from the Mt. Ashland Ski de velopment. Lodgepole road on t h c Butte Falls district is bring used by loggers and there is surfacing work under way on the Blue Rock road. Wood ruff Creek, Abbott Creek and Woodruff Access ronds also are being used on week days by a heavy logging operation. In this same category are Hcrshbcrger. Prairie Creek and Wizard Creek roads. Walker has amassed 160 points behind the wheel of No. 97 car, a 1954 Buick. He collected 60 counters in the season's first race and added another 100 in the July 21 affair. Medford's Sam Dyke's holds down second spot in the con tention with a total of 128. Dykes copped 94 during the opening race on July 7 and came back to add another 34 two weeks later. He is driver of the M-5 car. Harvey Nelson, Eagle Point, is in third spot with 126, fol lowed by Pat Tyler, Medford, with 124. Charles Davis. Ash land, is credited with 118 and John Jones, also of Ashland, is in sixth spot with 110. ' High point winners at the conclusion of the season will divide a special purse, accord ing to track officials. The third race of the season is scheduled for this Sunday, Aug. 4, with seven events. More than 50 cars are expect ed to be in the running for a share of the $150 purse. Thursday night the two clubs concluded a four game scries 'with Portland making a clean sweep.
