The projects are jointly financed by the city and the federal government. The apron at the airport is being extended an average of 350 feet, and the taxiway area is being lengthened about 600 feet to the south. Work on the $28,455.60 project was started last fall but was delayed because of bad weather. The federal gov ernment is paying 56 per cent of the costs and the city ot Medford is paying 44 per cent. Medford. Construction of the new unit is Construction Starts On $500,000 Office Plans for a $500,000 profes sional office building at 650 Royal st., have been an nounced by Robert G. Little and Dr. Merle E. Foland, own ers. The building will include 20,000 feet of space in 21 of fices with complete labora tory, x-ray and pharmacy. Parking space for 107 cars will adjoin the structure on two acres. The building will be located north of the Medford Shop ping center adjacent to the Hawthorne Garden Apart ments and Convalescent hos pital. Architect is F. Jerome Hunter and contractor, Wil liam E. Brooks. A building permit for ini tial construction was issued recently by the city's building department to Professional Plaza, Inc. The permit fee was $742.50. Murphy, of 2956 Falrvicw Place, president and general manager of Pinnacle Or chards and Packing company, obtained the property when the Posse went out of exist ence. It Is supplied with city wa ter and Is accessible in all di rections to the public. The club house; containing a carc- ' taker's quarters; 20 box stalls and 20 tie stalls, a large hay barn and n grandstand that seats 3,000 persons are still on , the property. Bugguli Option County Commissioner F.d Taylor suggested that the county take an option on the property If the "price Is right." He stated that it is go ing to become increasingly difficult to obtain property within the area neighboring tha city. He said he did not favor developing a fair grounds or a baseball park un til the ones under develop ment are completed, and com mented that he saw no addi tional need at the present time. With the approval ot the three members of the court, County Judge Earl Miller an nounced that the matter south of Medford neighboring Ihe county farm revealed that the situation Is now under control. Receive Complaints The county court and the sanitarian had received a number of complaints, partic ularly from the miniature golf course in the vicinity. Inspec tion revealed that a number of pot holes, not the irrigation pond, were the breeding grounds. Insecticides were used In treatment of the breed ing holes by George Runyon, mosnuilo control officer, Thursday atlcrnoon. The mosquito problem has not been serious this season, largely because of the cooler weather, Sanitarian Orle Moore said. The staff also has been able to treat the danger areas at an earlier dale. Jf Ihey can bo treated as soon as the wrigglers appear, he ex plained, it is much easier to combat Ihe problem. Once Ihe mosquitoes are on the wing the problem Is multi plied many times. Members of Group Soliciting Funds Five members of the Unit ed Missionary Army, Inc., headed by the Rev. johnny Wallace Grant, are in Med ford this week soliciting funds to purchase Braille Bibles for the blind. Permission for the men to seek private donations in Medford was granted by city officials. Recorder-Treasurer Darcll Huson said a business license was not required for the solicitation. The group has checked in with the Medford Chamber of Commerce and is being in vestigated, Don McNeil, man ager, said. Organizational head q u a r- ters of the Missionary Army are in San Francisco. The group registered in Multno mah counly July S, McNeil said, but has not yet been licensed to solicit in Portland. The group claims to dis tribute Braille Bibles through put Oregon and apparently will solicit house to house In communities throughout the state, McNeil said. This is the third medical professional office building to have a permit issued for its construction this year. The Claude E. Mclntyre building, costing $55,000, is under con struction near Barnett and Murphy rds. with occupancy expected in September. Another building is under construction at 17 Myrtle St., costing $80,000. No definite date has been announced for its opening. The Myrtle st. building, which will be occupied by Dr. John T. Weisel and Drs. Jack Ingram and Kennett G. Sublette, will actually be two buildings connected by a court, Dr. Weisel said. His offices will be In one building and Dr. Ingram and Dr. Sublette will occupy the other. The office space of the two will total 3,900 square feet. The construction, designed by Architect F. Jerome Hunt er, is in Pagoda style, similar to a junior college in south ern California. It will be the first construction in this de sign in Medford. The three Medford physicians expect to be in the new quarters some time in September. Plans for a fourth medical professional office build 1 n g, have also been announced. It will be on 5.4 acres of land east of Murphy rd. opposite the Rogue Valley hospital which was annexed to the city by the city council July 5.
