The Jackson county court, would be taken under advise
Friday, received a Idler from J ment.
H. B. Murphy offering the Report from the county
county purchase of the 41) sanitarian's office recardliiB a
acres on onge roan, jnrnwiy mosnuilo problem in the area
known as the Jackson Counly
Posse grounds, and suggesting
that the county investigate
the possibility of developing
the property as a new fair
grounds site.
Murphy, of 2956 Falrvicw
Place, president and general
manager of Pinnacle Or
chards and Packing company,
obtained the property when
the Posse went out of exist
ence. It Is supplied with city wa
ter and Is accessible in all di
rections to the public. The
club house; containing a carc-
' taker's quarters; 20 box stalls
and 20 tie stalls, a large hay
barn and n grandstand that
seats 3,000 persons are still on
, the property.
Bugguli Option
County Commissioner F.d
Taylor suggested that the
county take an option on the
property If the "price Is
right." He stated that it is go
ing to become increasingly
difficult to obtain property
within the area neighboring
tha city. He said he did not
favor developing a fair
grounds or a baseball park un
til the ones under develop
ment are completed, and com
mented that he saw no addi
tional need at the present
time.
With the approval ot the
three members of the court,
County Judge Earl Miller an
nounced that the matter
south of Medford neighboring
Ihe county farm revealed that
the situation Is now under
control.
Receive Complaints
The county court and the
sanitarian had received a
number of complaints, partic
ularly from the miniature golf
course in the vicinity. Inspec
tion revealed that a number
of pot holes, not the irrigation
pond, were the breeding
grounds. Insecticides were
used In treatment of the breed
ing holes by George Runyon,
mosnuilo control officer,
Thursday atlcrnoon.
The mosquito problem has
not been serious this season,
largely because of the cooler
weather, Sanitarian Orle
Moore said. The staff also has
been able to treat the danger
areas at an earlier dale. Jf
Ihey can bo treated as soon as
the wrigglers appear, he ex
plained, it is much easier to
combat Ihe problem.
Once Ihe mosquitoes are on
the wing the problem Is multi
plied many times.
