Johnson III. Miss Han- ley's mother, Mrs. Michael F. Hanley, Jordan Valley, made the announcement. Mr. Johnson is a son of Mr. and Mrs. William B. John son Jr., Vale, Ore. Miss Hanlcy's father, well known as "Mike" Hanley, was e member of a prominent pioneer family of Harney and Jackson counties in Oregon. Relatives here are Mrs. E. B. Hanley. Mrs. Hanley Heffer. nan, Robert Heffernan and the Misses Martha and Mary Hanley. Both Miss Hanley and her fiance attended Eastern Ore gon college. La Grande, and Mr. Johnson is a senior at the school. The wedding has been set for the fall. . Engagement Announced Mrs. Beryl Ward, 143 North Oakdale avenue, announces the engagement of her daugh ter, Miss Joan Valene Ward to Weston O. Duggan, 413 West Second street. The bridegroom-elect is son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward G. Duggan, former Medford residents, now of McKinley ville. Calif. The bride is a 1962 gradu ate of Medford High school and now is a sophomore at Southern Oregon college. She is majoring in elementary edu cation. The bridegroom is a I960 graduate of Medford High school and attended Linfield college. He is employed by the American Oil company on Barnett road. The wedding has been set for February 14, 1984, birth day of the bride-elect. V'Jr Miss Joan Ward Mr. and Mrs. Emerson H. Parents Tell Of Engagement Gold Hill - The engage ment of Miss Fredrlcka Joyce Gowen and Herschel Lewis Mack has been announced by the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred J. Gowen, Bouts 2, Box 449, Gold Hill. The bridegroom-elect is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert A. Mack, Gold Hill. Miss Gowan is a 1963 grad uate of Crater High school and is employed at the Cen tral Clearing In Medford. Her fiance is a 1963 graduate of Oregon State university. This fall he plans to attend Purdue university in Lafayette, Ind. No wedding date has been set. Miss Joan Helm And Walter Lake Engaged To Wed Grenada-Mr. and Mrs. Ray mond Helm have announced the engagement of their daughter Joan to Walter Lake, son or Dr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Lake, Yreka. The bride-elect attended Yuba City and Yreka High schools and graduated from College of Siskiyous with the class of 1963. She plans to enter Chico State college this fall. Her fiance, also a graduate of Yreka High school, has Just completed four years with the United States Navy and plans to attend Shasta college In Redding this fall. Miss Jean Helm Art Classes Plan Tea Youngsters completing the art classes sponsored by the Rogue. Valley Art association will exhibit their work at a tea for parents and others interested in children's art Tuesday, July 23, at Rogue gallery, 220 West Main street Tea will be served from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and children may be registered at that time for the next scries of classes. Aim of the classes, accord ing to the instructor, Mrs. Janet Schmltz, Is to stimulate the students' creative growth through experiences in the use ot paint. Emphasis is put on what the student gets from the art experience rather than on the final product. Children between the ages of 7 and 12 may be enrolled in the classes, which will be taught Tuesday and Thursday mornings in the Medford It brary. The two act comedy by George Axel rod will be presented July 30 tnrough August 3 In the little theater at the Jackson county fair grounds. Three veteran Footllghtcrs are in the cast. They are Jer- ldyn Jerome, who l cast as Charlie; Charles Tucker, who will play George Tracy, and Hal Applcbaum, who has been given the character of Irving. Newcomers In the play In clude Rosemary S. United Church Women Set Tea Medford Council of United Church Women plans a tea nd swim party Wednesday, July 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. George Flana gan, North Pacific highway.
