6 C Sorority Announces Awards Alpha Lambda chapter, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Inter national sorority, won a aeo ond place award at the six teenth annual international convention held last week in Spokane, Wash. The award was given for a poater to pro mote magazine subscriptions. Those responsible for the poster were Mrs. Kenneth Oliver and Mrs. Chester Pet erson, assisted by Miss Lydia Work. Mrs. Delbert Cantrall and Mrs. W. H. Fischer at tended from the chapter. Other Oregon chapters which received awards were Beta Epsilon, Portland, edu cation; second. Beta Upsilon, Portland, rushing, third. The Oregon sorority won a third place award in history, and the three area council philanthropic awards all were won by Oregon chap ters, Pendleton area, first; Portland area, second, and Eugene area, third. Oregon as a stats placed second in philanthropic work. The main project on the state level is aid to the crip pled children's hospital school in Eugene which was given over $11,000 last year through the organization. Camperships to Camp East cr Seal amounted to $873. Most chapter members work with the Easter Seal society In their annual drive. Many chapters sponsor the drive In their counties. The 11 o'clock double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. William Walsh in the presence of more than 60 guests. Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wcstgaard, 95 Meade street, Ashland, are parents ot the bride. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Benson Sr., Yuba City, Calif. The bride's floor length gown of white Chantilly lace was fashioned with tiered skirt and her fingertip veil, a French Import, was held by a tiara of crystal beads and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white rosea and stcphanotis. Mr. Westgaard Women Visit Medford Group Yreka-Ten members of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Yrcka Meth odist church were gnosis of the Medford WSCS at their regular monthly meeting, Tuesday, June 23 at the church in Medford. The president of the Med ford society appointed each guest a sister for the day, to sit with her, help her to get acquainted and take her to lunch which was served at noon in the banquet room. The Yrcka members pre sented a skit entitled "Blue Monday Wash" based on the subject of social relations. Medford members also took tho Yrcka women on a tour of the church. Those attending from Yrekii were Mrs. ltiirtscl Gray, Mrs. Esther Smith, Mrs. Jim Elsea. Mrs. Donald Donihuc, Mrs. Walter Moarns. Pastel street length frocks of crystal Ine In shades of yel low, blue, lavender, green and peach were worn by the bride a attendants. Each car ried a nosegay of white car nations with ribbon streamers to match her dress and net hat. Miss Sandra Wcstgaard was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Judy Eberhart and Miss Peggy Parsons of Ashland and Miss Frances Holmes of Medford. Miss Christine Wcst gaard, a younger sister of the bride, was Junior bridesmaid. Rodney Fuller served as best man and Dale Miningcr, Richard Callahan and Robert Nichols were ushers. White gladioli decorated the main and side altars. MIbs Marilyn Fellers was the organist, Mr. and Mrs. Alvln Fellers were hosts for the reception For their trip to tho coast tho new Mrs. Benson wore a thrce-picco blue suit. Both are graduates of Ash land High school and during the past year the bride has been a student at Oregon Technical Institute, Klumath Falls. OPED TODAY 9 TO 9 Williams-Miss Roberta Lee Katzenbach became the bride of Ranald Norman Webb in a garden wedding held June 12 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John H. Katzen bach, 17610 Williams high way. Grants Pass. The evening double ring ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. Roy Price, pastor of the Williams Community church. The bridegroom's parents arc Mr. and Mrs. Nor man Webb, Powell Creek road, Williams. The bride was escorted to the altar in front of a rose covered archway by her fath er. The archway had been built by William Lemon, grandfather of the bridegroom. The bride wore a gown of white nylon fashioned with lace bodice, scoop neckline cap sleeves and pleated cum merbund. The floor length skirt was of nylon and net and the back was accent by a tiered bustle. Her single strand of pearls was some thing borrowed. Her nylon net veil was held by a rhine- stone tiara and she carried a bouquet of white carnations and orange blossoms encircl ing an orchid. Three Attendants Miss Donna Wiss, Eugene, Alpha Mu sorority sister of the bride, was maid of hon or. Bridesmaids were the Misses Shirley and Sharon Sowell, cousins of the bride groom, and Barbara Webb, sister of the bridegroom. They wore ballerina length frocks of nylon lace and net with white accessories. Miss Wiss's frock was yellow and she carried a bouquet of yel low Ester Reed daisies. The bridesmaid's dresses were in pink, blue and green and they carried bouquets of pink, green and white Ester Reed daisies with streamers to match their frocks. Pamela Katzenbach, Med ford, served as flower girl for her aunt. She wore a multi colored frock. Stephen Gra ham, Medford, was ring bearer. Larry Webb served as best man for his brother and Wil liam and Charles Katzenbach, Medford, brothers of the bride, and Philip Anderson, Murphy, were ushers. Mrs. G. H. Collins played the organ wedding music and accompanied Mrs. Richard Katzenbach, Grants Pass, soloist. Edward Swing, Ash land, played an accordion solo. Wears Blu Mrs. Katzenbach wore an Alice blue eyelet dress over taffeta with pink accessories for her daughter's wedding Mrs. Webb chose a powder blue lace dress with white accessories. Their corsages were pink rosebuds. More than 100 relatives and friends attended the recep tion which followed the wed ding. In addition to the gar den flowers, baskets of rho dodendrons, roses and white wedding bells decorated the area. Mrs. Lynn Stone cut and served the wedding cake which she had made and dec orated. Assisting with the serving and reception were Mrs. Lee Graham, Medford; Mrs. Percy Sowell, Mrs. A. D. Fitzpatriek, Mrs. A. J. Lind- quist, Mrs. Merritt Swing, Miss Chcri Swing, and Mrs. C. O. Booth. The couple traveled to Miller lake in the Greyback range on their wedding trip. Both are graduates of Grants Pass High school and are students at Oregon State uni versity. During the summer she will be employed at a drug store in Corvallis and he will attend summer school. Among the out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Webb, Berkeley, Calif., the bridegroom's grandpar ents; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Morris, San Diego, Calif., uncle and aunt of the bride; and Pashang Zand, student from Iran at the Oregon Stale university who was a week end guest at the Webb home. Ramsey and Mrs. Ben Allison, delegates to a convention of the auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars held recently in McMinn ville, will give reports on the session at the local auxili ary's next meeting, Tuesday, July 2. The meeting will be held at 8 p.m., in the VWF hall, 42 North Front street. Mrs. Ramsey Ls president of the group. Mrs. Edward Face, Prine ville, was elected state presi dent at the convention. At a recent meeting of Past Presidents club, held in the home of Mrs. Mary Weber, Mrs. Amy Randle was hon ored with a shower of birth day cards and gifts. Cards were played and jilans were made for a picnic in July to be held in Lithia park, Ashland. drona lane, teacher of Ger man at Medford High school, departed from Portland Fri day, June 29, to attend the forty second annual meeting of the representative assembly of the National Education as sociation being held in Cobo hall. Detroit, Mich. Mrs. Smith serves on the five-member editing commit tee the function of which is to edit the resolutions which may be presented by any of the 800,000 NEA members or any state, county or local as sociation. This year the committee was also mandated to rewrite the platform which states the of the association. The plat form and resolutions govern the officers and staff of the association and guide mem bers in their professional ac tivities. From Detroit Mrs. Smith will travel to New York City where she will be a guest of Dr. Jane Day Northrup Fer guson, former Oregonian. Mrs. Smith will visit the Goethe Institute to investigate study abr.id opportunities and will also visit commercial and gov ernmental outlets of audio visual equipment and ma terials for the instruction of foreign languages.
