Skelion's Daughter Hurt in Accident Palm Springs, Calif. -u-Comedian Red Skeltons 17-year-old daughter. Valentina was treated at Desert hospital Sunday for bruises suffered in a motor scooter accident. Investigating officers said the Skelton girl's scooter spun out of control on East Palm Canyon Drive in this desert resort. She and George Hicks II, also 17, were riding their scooters when Miss Skelton's vehicle struck some new pav ing and went end-over-end and skidded some 80 feet. Miss Skelton was not hurt seriously. The association went on record opposing any legisla tion which would provide high support prices for wheat unless it makes special provi sion for feed wheat prices in Elects Eugene Man the Pacific Northwest at rates comparable to corn in the Midwest. N. L. Bennion, Oregon State University poultry specialist, told the group that Oregon has the potential to pick up an extra $246 million in an nual income "if we have free wheat or feed wheat at a price comparable to corn in the Midwest." I have heard so much about this recently that it started me to think in g what west might happen if all the people who now smoke were suddenly to stop. Here are some of the pos sibilities that crossed my mind: 1 f IP Tragedy Strikes For Third Time Plattesville, Wis. - HIM -Marilyn Bulson, 20, this week end became the third child of Mr, and Mrs. Purl Butson to die accidentally within 18 months. She died of head injuries suffered Thursday when the horse she was riding bolted and crashed into a car. Her sister, Diane, 8, was killed June 11 in a fall from a hay loft and a brother, Melvin, died in a traffic accident in December, 1961. 1. All of the farmers who now grow tobacco would con vert their acreage to wheat, corn and cotton. This would greatly aggravate the surplus problem and cause .he Secre tary of Agriculture to shoot himself. Seeking a scientific solu tion, the government would wheat, corn and cotton. After 10 years and 10 bil lion dollars, the laboratories would anounce a chemical dis covery through which wheat, corn and cotton could be used to make cigarettes. 2. The paper match indus try would go into bankruptcy, Hatfield Slates Two Speaking Dates Salem - !PD - Gov. Mark Hatfield will leave Oregon Tuesday night for speaking engagements In California and Illinois, his office announced. He will keynote the nation al Young Republican conven tion Wednesday in San Fran cisco, then fly to Northwest ern university, Evanston, 111., Thursday to address the Na tion Association of Student Personnel Administrators.
