Robert Leroy Thrush . were married in an 8 o'clock evening candlelight ceremony June IS, In the Medford Friends church. Tha Rev. Bernard E. Andrew o the Medford Flrit Baptist church performed the double ring rites. About 190 guests and relatives attended. The bride is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donsld W. Paul sen, 508 Hamilton street, Medford, and th bridegroom is a son of Mr. snd Mrs. Emery R. Thrush, Csmas Vslley, Ore. Baskets of white gladioli and tangerine carnations, and white candles decorated the front of the church. Lighted csndles marked the pew ends . where white bows, tangerine carnations, and greenery : were placed. - Mrs. Douglas Cummlngs, Rancho Cordova, Calif., played the organ and Miss Julia Gandt, Medford, sang the wedding songs. Mr. Paulsen escorted his daughter to the altar and gave her in marriage. She wore a floor-length gown of peau de sole in classic design which she had made. The fit ted bodice had a boat neck' line and tha skirt was de- . signed with an apron-type front and long flowing train. The dress was trimmed with rose design lace. The bride also had made her elbow-length veil of nylon illusion which was held m place by a low circle crown of lace trim that matched the dress trim. Her wedding bou quet was of white carnations and stephanolls. ' Attendants la Green Miss Betty Young, Med ford, wis maid of honor and Mrs. Don Tlnseth, Medford, was bridesmatron. Brides maids were Miss Diane Paul sen, Medford, sister of. the the bride; Miss Mary Lee de Place, Medford, and Miss Carol Swanson, Portland sorority sister of the bride. They all more moss green peau de sole sheath dresses with matching apron over skirts. Their hats were of white roses on white petal shaped net and they wore long white gloves. They car ried round bouquets of white and tangerine carnations. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Dawn Paulsen, sister of the bride, and Miss Rita Gates, a cousin, both Med ford. They wore white dress es which had petal-shaped overskirts. over the slightly gathered skirts. Their - l.als snd bouquets were minia- turea of those worn by the bridesmaids. The candlelight- ers ere Miss Anne McDuuee and Miss Deanna Russell, both Medford. Their dresses were of moss green peau de sole which had fitted bodices and slightly gathered skirts. Their hats were identical to the bridesmaids' and their wristlets were of tangerine carnations. John Wheeler, formerly of Camas Valley, was best man. Groomsmen were Irvin Thrush, San Diego, brother of the bridegroom; Harry Ketchum, The Dslles; Way- man Schmidt, Camas Valley, and Dwaln Brown, Camas Valley. The bride's mother wore a moss green, pink and white two-piece flowered dress with pink hat and white accesso ries. The bridegroom's moth er wore a light blue sneatn dress with flowered Jacket and blue hat. Their corsages were of white carnations. Reception Given The reception following the wedding was held in the church annex and was given by the bride's parents. Tan- gerlne and white carnations decoroted the reception tables. Mrs. Martin Gales, Medford, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Keith Hockersmlth, Medford, cut and served the wedding cake. Mrs. Kenneth Wald, Central Point, was in charge of the punch bowl as sisted by Miss Linda 'lrush, Camas Valley, sister of the bridegroom. Mrs. Lester Wil cox, Central Point, was in charge of the reception. Among the out-of-town guests attending the wedding and reception were Mrs. Zeona Korslund, Seattle, aunt of the bride; Mr. and Mrs Wayne Wheeler and Joyce, Springfield, brother-in-1 a w and sister of the bridegroom; Miss Musie Thrush, Camas Valley, aunt of the bride groom, and Mrs. A. E. Swsn- son, Portland. For their wedding trip the bride wore a white three piece cotton knit suit with s pale blue hat and scarf snd white accessories. Her ..orsage wss of white csrnations from her bridsl bouquet. ' The couple will mske their home in Camas Valley until August. The bride wss graduated from Medford High school snd attended Oregon State university for three yesrs ma joring in home economics education. She is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta. The bridegroom was grsduated from Camas Valley High school and la a 1963 forestry graduate from Oregon State university. He was commis sioned at graduation as a sec ond lieutenant in the U.S. Ma rine Corps. In August he will begin marine flight training in Pensacoia, Florida. 4 Visitor Leaves For Vermont; Parties Given Gall Era MeNuli (Locks phoio) News Received From Klpmath Phoenix - The engagement of Miss Gall Eva McNutt and Jack Richard Cornett recently was announced by the bride elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. 1. McNutt, Klamath Falls. The news was announced In this area at the home of his mother, Mrs. Marian Cooley of Phoenix. The bride-elect Is a senior at Klamath Union High school. The bridegroom-elect Is sta tioned with the Navy on the USS Ft. Marion, which is : docked In Seattle, Wash. He ' Is quartermaster third class. A December wedding is planned. Salem Family Guests Here Mr. and Mrs. Richard P. Knights and son, Douglas Knights, former Medford resi dents, visited recently in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ota Binegar Jr., 1441 South Ivy street. They now live In Sa lem where Mr. Knights is with the International Business Machines corporation. Miss Valerie Knights, the couple'a daughter, who at tends South Salem High school, now is on an Ameri can Heritage tour on the east coast. She will be a senior next year and recently was elected secretary-treasurer of the student body for the com ing year. She attended Med ford High school during her sophomore year. Their son, Richard Knights, has completed his first year in Honors college at Oregon State university, Corvallls, and now is attending the sum mer session at Oregon State university. Mrs. F. Adair Monroe left Medford Thursday night for her home in Manchester, Vt., after a stay in Medford with relatives and friends. Mrs, Monroe came west to attend the grauation of her grand son, Anthony A. Monroe, Med ford, from Stanford univer sity on June 16. She stopped first in San Francisco and was Joined there by her son, Allyn A. Monroe, Medford, for the trip to Palo Alto for the ceremo nies. Also present for the ex ercises were the student's mother, Mrs. Dorothy Mon roe, and other members of his family, including his grandparenta, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Roberts, all Med ford. The Vermont visitor re turned to Medford with her son, and was registered at the Medford hotel during her atay here. Several parties were given for Mrs. Monroe, who has often been a visitor in the valley in the past. Mrs. Martin Luther and Mrs. Har old Jordan gave a party in her honor, and Wednesday night John S. Day was host tor a dinner at the hotel which honored Mrs. Monroe. Tuesday night Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Neeley were hosts for a cocktail party at their home, 111 Portland avenue, and later Mrs. Allyn Monroe gave a dinner at Rogue Val ley Country club in celebra tion of her husband s birth day anniversary. Twelve guests sttended. The Stanford grsduate, who attended the university on a scholarship, left Friday to re port for duty with the United States Marine corps. Couple Returns From Alaska Mr. and Mrs. James Soren- sen, 134 Highland drive, ar rived home the end of the week from a month's tour of Alaska. The couple made the trip to and from Alaska by ship. Among the points which they visited were Ketchikan, Anchorage, Fairbanks, Mt. McKinley National park, and Skagway. They made the trip from Anchorage to Fairbanks by the Alaska Railway and they also traveled the Trail of 1898. On their return they stopped at Vancouver, B.C., Canada. Their marriage was an event of June 0 in the Church of Christ, Court street, Medford, The bride is the former Miss Joan C. Houston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orage Houston, Trail. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Bennett, Gibbon road, Central Point, The 3 o'clock afternoon ceremony was performed by Eaton Cstlett, pastor of the church. The bride, given in mar riage by her father, wore a nylon organza gown embroid ered with rosebuds, styled with a rounded neckline and accented with a bow at the back. She carried a nosegay of tangerine colored rosebuds on a white Bible. Miss Claudia Heglund, Ash land, the honor attendant, and Miss Joanee Callaghan (center). Miss Rogue Vallay of 1813, was honored rec ently at a tea given at iha home of Mrs. A. I. Prughr, her official chaperene, at 12S White Oak road. The Misses Joan Torelle, Rose Hardy and Florence Mil ler, all Portland, were brides maids. Miss Miller being a sister of the bridegroom. Escorts Bride John Pingo, Portland, was best man, and seating the guests were Michael Wood ruff, and Richard DeMartlni, both Portland, and Robert Betscliart. Newlywed Pair To Live Here The marriage of Donna Hill to Charles Haas took place Saturday afternoon, June 13, in the fireplace room of the First Baptist Church, Salem. Dr. Arlln Halvorsen per formed the 4 o'clock cere mony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hill, Talent, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Dan F. Haas, 106 Niantic street. Medford. The bride wore a white or ganza dress, and shoulder length veil csught by a pearl crown. She carried white carnations over a white Bible. Her only attendant, Mrs. Rosella Satell, sister of the bridegroom, wore a blue lace dress with a white carnation corsage. Charles Johnson was best man tor his brother-in-law. The reception was held at the home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Williams, Salem. Following a wedding trip along the Oregon coast, the couple will be at home in Medford. Miss Shirley Quinn, Portland, served the coffee and Miss Joanne Battilcga, Portland, had charge of the guest book. the bridesmaids, the Misses Sandra Pierre, Ashland, and Miss Sharon Roberts, a sister of the bride, wore tangerine colored crystalline gowns with full skirts. They carried matching rosebud bouquets, Flower Girl Cindy Gilmore, Medford, a niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl. Gordon Gilmore, brother-in- law of the bridegroom, was best msn, Bernard DeCosta and Doyle Bransom, both Ashland, were ushers. Baskets of white peonies snd tangerine colored snap dragons decorated the church, Mrs. Henry Friesen was or- gsnist. Mrs. Friesen and her brother, Eldred Peyton fur nished a duet and they with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Trim mer sang a quartet selection. The reception given by the bride's parents waa held in the Girls Community club. Friends Assist m Miss Molly Gregg and Miss Theresa Thomas served coffee and cake. Mrs. James Vander- lip and Miss Carol Gwaltney, Ashland, poured punch, while Miss Vernola Hutchinson reg istered the guests. In charge of gifts was Mrs. William Skeeters. The bride's mother wore a turquoise suit with white rose bud corsage and the bride groom'a mother was dressed in beige with pink' acces sories. Her corsage was of pink rosebuds. The couple visited Disnev. land during their trio and now are living for the sum- mer at the Wheel Inn motel, metuora. in September they will move to .Castro V.ll.v Calif., where both will teach the sixth gride In the public schools. The bride and bridegroom re graduates of Southern Oregon college. The bride at tended Eagle Point High school and the bridegroom at tended Crater High school. 4 Son-Home Presiding at the gift table were Mrs. William Flnnel, Klamath Falls, and the Misses Shirley Boswell and Monica Dunn. The wedding cake decorat ed in the wedding color theme of blue and white was topped with a crucifix. The bridegroom's cake was served by Miss Sandy Boyden. j'or her daughter's wedding Mrs. Dunn wore a powder blue sheath dress and the bridegroom's mother wors an aqua blue sheath frock. Both had whlfe accessories and both wore orchid corsages. The couple left for their wedding trip to Yellowstone National park and are to re turn July 1 to live at 7303 Southeast Division street, Portland. The bride has been em ployed as a secretary at First National bank, Portland branch, and has been living in Portland. She attended Med ford High school. The bridegroom attended Franklin High school and is employed as a machinist at Yancy's Machine and Tool firm in Portland. John Frohnmayer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Frohnmay er, 1698 Spring street, has ar rived ; home from Stanford university for the summer months. He has completed his Junior year there. Locke-Stevenson Ceremony is Held Ashland - In an afternoon church ceremony Sunday, June 9, attended only by rela- Uvea and close friends, Vivian Jean Stevenson became the bride of Raymond Lance Locke. The double ring serv ice was read by the Rev. Ga len H. Onstad in All Saints Episcopsl church, Redding, Calif. The bride's parents arc Dr. and Mrs. Elmo N. Stevenson, 610 Elksder street, Ashland, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Huck, 1660 Parker street. Dr. Stevenson, president of Southern Oregon college, gave his daughter in marriage and Miss Rosemary Stevenson was her sister s attendant. Michael Morgan; Castro Valley, Calif., served as best man and Ken neth Stevenson, the bride's brother, was itsher. Miss Lil lian Voiimers played tradi tional wedding organ music. The bride wore an after noon dress of white organza over taffeta. Bands of lace trimmed the fitted bodice and full skirt. Her shoulder length veil fell softly from a coronet of pearls and she carried a white orchid encircled by stephanotis on a white prayer book. Her lace handkerchief had been made by her great-grandmother. Miss Stevenson, the maid of honor who had flown to Redding from Los Angeles, wore a turquoise chiffon frock and matching hat and carried a bouquet of white carnations. For her daughter s wedding Mrs. Stevenson chose a silk suit of delphinium blue with white accessories. Mrs. Huck wore a beige suit with avoca do accessories and cymbidium orchid corsages were worn by both. For her ' traveling attire Mrs. Locke wore a threelpiece n Eugene Rogue River Mr. and Mrs. Arty Laws and family, Ronald and Elizabeth, Rogue River and Miss Lynda Ken yon, Tslent, visited at the home of Mr. Laws' father, W. H. Laws and wife at Eu gene last week end. raw silk beige ensemble ac cented with,, darker brown ac cessories. Her corsage was the orchid from her bouquet. Following the ceremony 4 receptirn was held in the church parlor where Mrs. Mi chael Morgan and Miss Mar ian Simon, both of Castro Val ley, presided at the tea table. Mew In Arisona After spending a few days in the Bay area the couple left for Tempe, Ariz., where Mr. Locke is attending the Na tional Science Foundation in biochemistry and cellular biol ogy. They expect to return to Ashland in mid-August. The bride and her husband both attended the Ashland schools. After graduating from high school Mrs. Locke at tended Oregon State univer sity, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. For a year she was a Trans-World airline hostess and for a sum mer was in Europe with Over seas National airlines. After graduating from Southern Or egon college in 1961 she be came a teacher in the Hay ward, Calif., schools. Mr. Locke, a 1960 graduate of SOC and a quarterback on the Red Raiders football team for four years, is a teacher of science at Ashland junior High school and coaches foot ball and basketball. While in college he was a member of Theta Delta Phi, men's honor society. ' The bride was honored at several pre-nuptial events. Among those who entertained were Mrs. E. C. McGill, Mrs. Herbert Lewis and Mrs. Ray mond Lininger of Ashland; Mrs. Dale Goff, Mrs. Michael Morgan and Miss Marian Si mon, Castro Valley.
