His 21 -dog team, averaging about 43 pounds each weight, can pull a load equa to about three quarters of a ton. He uses the 70 - foot long team hauling passengers from the nearby Sun Valley parking lot to Dollar or Baldy mountains. Dollar is a small skiing hump near by the resort's parking lot, but big Baldy is a number of miles away. The Blacks came to Ket chum last November iind op erated the dog sled around town. During a parade here Black discovered the need for the battery - operated radio He said noise from the pa. rade drowned his orders be fore they reached the lead dog. Mrs. Black combs the dogs in the spring when they are shedding. The females arc combed right after they wean their pups. She gathers the wool, washes and spins it, then can knit it or crochet it into what ever articles ere desired. The Items - and on of the most popular are baby booties - are sold In the Black s pet shop. The kennel has 20 Samoy- cds, all registered with the American Kennel club.
