Bjorlie, 611 Normal avenue, wai a member of the Pacific Lutheran University Choir of the West that left Seattle last week for a two- month European concert tour Included in the 41 appear ances will be many in the Scandanavian countries and a concert before King Olsf of Norway. Two weeks will be srjent in Germany, Switzer land. France and Italy, and on their return to the United States July 29 there will be a day of sightseeing in N e w York. Shelley, 132 Vancouver ave nue. The bridegroom-elect, of 819 South Peach street, Med ford, is a son of Mr. and Mr. Spencer T. Woodruff, Salem, Ore. Miss Shelley Is a 1963 graduate of Crater High school and is employed at Don and Ralph's Greyhound res taurant, Medford. Her flnnce, n 1957 graduate of David Douglas High school, Port land, is now employed by the Pacific Northwest Bell Tele phone company in Medford. He served for six years in the Uavy. The wedding is planned for February 7, 1964. Student Tapped By Honor Group ' Miiui Ellen Montgomery, (laughter of Mrs. John Z Montgomery, 136 South Kecnoway drive, was recent' ly tapped by the Oregon chapter of Sigma Delia Pi, national Spanish honorary society at the University of Oregon. Miss Montgomery is a fresh man, majoring in foreign lan' guages. Central Point-Mr. and Mrs Lewis Kilbourn, Table Rock road, Central Point, were In Corvallis to attend the recent Oregon State university com' mencement exercises when three members of their fam ily received degrees. Their daughter, Miss Janet Kilbourn, and their son, Lee F. Kilbourn, both received bachelor of science degrees, and their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lee F. Kilbourn, received doctor of philosophy degree. Miss Kilbourn, who wss graduated from the school of home economics where she majored in dietetics and Insti tutional management, will in tern for a year as a dietitian at Massachusetts General hos pital in Boston beginning July 1. Mr. Kilbourn majored in general science- He plans to enter the University of Oregon school of architecture next fall for further study. His wife, the former Miss Joan Pri8cilla Payne of Salem, received her degree from the graduate school of science in the field of microbiology. She will be on the faculty of the University of Oregon beginning next September. She and Mr. rei nstallation Set By Medford Unit v Medford Home Extension unit officers will be Installed during an annual unit picnic Wednesday, June 12, at the home of Mrs. William Naylor, New Ray road. The picnic luncheon will be served at 12 noon and members are to take table service. Miss Data Hochhaltrr will Install the officers during the give bourn plan to remain in Cor vallis for the summer. Both Mr. Kilbourn and Miss Janet Kilbourn are graduates of Crater High school. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Kil bourn plan to leave June 19 to accompany their daughter to Boston. GFWC Meeting To Be Attended By Five Officers Of Interest to many valley women is the coming national convention of General Feder ation of Women's clubs to be held June 10 through 14 In Milwaukee, Wise. Several Oregon women, all officers, plan to attend the sessions. Heading the delegation will be Mrs. Melford M. Nelson, Monmouth, president of the Oregon federation, With her will be Mrs. John S. Tyler Jr., Salem, and Mrs. Walter B. Rich, first and second vice presidents; Mrs. H. M. Zell, Wasco, chairman of the Inter national Council of Clubs, and Mrs. Marion T. Weatherford, Arlington, a member of the GFWC International Affairs department. Government officials, well known artists and theatrical figures are scheduled to ap pear before the convention assemblies. Lyndon B. The bridegroom-elect is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted DcFord, 2533 Sandy terrace. Miss Meier is a 1962 grad uate of Medford High school and Is a student at the Uni versity of Oregon. Her fi ance, a 1958 Medford High school graduate, is a 1963 graduating student at the University of Oregon. Family Attends Wedding Rites Mrs. Trena Heard, 38 North Oakdale avenue, and her daughter, Mrs. Roy Howe with her daughter, Miss Gay Howe, 119 North Keeneway i drive, returned last Sunday after being in Newburg, Ore., to attend the June 1 wedding of Miss Mary Ellen Farr and Malcolm Frederick Johnson. The bridegroom is a grandson of Mrs. Heard. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Bonnie Farr, Newburg, and the bridegroom's parents are Mrs. Itha Heard Johnson and F. H. Johnson, both of Portland and formerly of Medford. The double ring ceremony was performed at the New burg First Presbyterian church by the Rev. Leonard C. Brown, uncle of the bride groom, also formerly of Medford. The newly-wedded couple will do graduate work this summer at the University of Oregon and both will teach at Fort Stevens Junior High school in Hammond, Ore., next fall. The bridegroom attended Oregon State university where he was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and is a University of Ore gon graduate. Miss Classick To Be Married Rogue River - Announce ment of the forthcoming mar riage of Kathleen Antoin ette Classlck to Gary Leon Faye has been received here by friends of the Classlck family. The bride Is the daughter of Mrs. Homer E. Classlck. The wedding ceremony Is set for Friday, June 14, at St. John s Catholic church, Den ver, Colo. A reception will follow. The Classicks lived in Rogue River for a number of years and later moved to Portland and then to Denver. The bridegroom .-'elect is a son of Stanley - Hogenson, 1913 Birch street, Medford and the late Mrs. Hogenson. He is a graduate of Medford High school and is a student at Oregon Technical in stitute. The bride-elect was just graduated from Medford High school. No wedding date is set. Temple Plans Event A no-host luncheon and afternoon of cards is planned for members of Zuleima tem ple. Daughters of the Nile, from Medford, Ashland and Grants Pass, Monday, June 17 in the Medford hotel. The luncheon is to be served at 12:30 p.m. This is the first such social activity to be held for the group in this vicinity, and it is expected that plans will be made for regular monthly meetings begining next fall. Art Work On Exhibit All interested persona are invited te attend a showing of art work at the Public Li brary tt Medford and Jackson County from June 11 to 14. Several high school stu dents have submitted original designs for Christmas cards and a panel of judges will choose the winner of a cash prize. The design of the winning card will be used for the an nual Christmas card sale by the Junior Service league to benefit the kindergarten for the hard of hearing. Later in the year the cards will be available from all league members and various places of business in Medford and Ashland. 4 Local Student Is Honored News has -been received here that Miss Jeanne Bevis, who is completing her junior year at the University of Washington, has been chosen as the Sweetheart of the 22nd Air Force squadron yearbook at the Air Force academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. , Miss Bevis, a daughter of Mrs. Mildred Bevis, 711 Wa verly avenue, attended Colo rado Woman's college at Den ver, last year.
