(J i: C t . v H ." ii' 'vt Www Medford Tribune MEDFORD, OREGON. SUNDAY. JUNE 9. 1963 les Femme fatales of the beach in 1883 wore swimming suilt that left everything to the imagination. In fact most of these "down to the sea" fashions could best be described as gussied-up coveralls. If these sun-goddesses did dare to brave the water, their costumes were equipped with rust-proof corsets. V . - 'A .as- Miss Karen Foley, above, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. A. W. Foley, 1448 Oleander street, Medford, is this year's Catfish Derby queen and is an accomplished swimmer. This week she will attend aquatic school and expects to get her Red i- Cross life saving certificate. Viss Foley - will reign over the Catfish Derby festivi- f ties June 16 at Tou Velle state park. Lace is the keynote to the two unique .bathing suits pictured at right. "Unlike the "old-fashioned" swim suits, the 1963 models give the utmost in sun exposure and still romain within the scope of modesty. The back- buttoned popover, left, combined with hip-hugger trunks will be in the limelight this year. ; I ?i . if " I V . i .; - ,'. .. . .
