Lewiston topped the Dodg ers 7-0 and 10-9 to run its winning . streak to nine straight. Yakima edged Tri- City 8-7 in 11 innings in the only other scheduled game. Ken Yaryan tossed a four- hitter in Lewiston's opener and got solo homers from Bryan Dye, Ted Kubiak and Don Marrs. Woody Huyke had three hits in three trips for the winners. The Broncs won the night cap with six runs in the sev enth frame. The deciding run crossed when the Salem catcher dropped a throw to the plate. Vernon was succeeded as Washington manager by Gil Hodges on May 22 but still remained with the club as ad ministrative assistant to Gen eral Manager George Selkirk. If he is unable to find other suitable employment, Vernon will be welcomed back in the same capacity, Selkirk said.
