It is considered the birthday oi the Christian church. The Rev. Harold M. Sanner, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, 520 North Holly St., will observe Pentecost Sun day in the services Sunday. In the 11 a.m. worship hour he will speak on the. subject "Pentecost in Practice." Music announced by Perry Christiansen, minister of mu sic and education, will be by the sanctuary choir sinking, "Let Thy Mantle Fall on Me," and a number by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Rex Vowell, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brewster, and Mel Johnson , In the 7 p.m. service the pastor will give the conclude ing film-message of his cur rent series on his recent trav els to the Caribbean area. Bill Brewster, junior church director, announced that Dean von Stein will speak for the juniors Sunday. A duet will be presented by Allan and Patricia Foster and piano prelude music by Rita Myers. The Junior Highs will have an outing Saturday. They are to meet at the church at 9 a.m. Sponsors for the activity will be Mr. and Mrs. von Stein. Senior Citizens To Be Honored Sunday the Church of the Bretheren, 345 North Mary St., will pay honor to all sen ior citizens of their congrega tion. It will be called Grand ma Russell Day since Mrs. Mclinda Russell is the oldest member of the church, who attends services regularly. The pastor, the Rev. Wil liam Wash, will speak on the subject, "A Great Experience to be Shared." Mary Music and Terry Birman will ting, "Under His Wings." All teachers who will teach Bible school are to meet at the church Tuesday it 1 p.m. to make final plans The CBYF will have a . graduation dinner at the Towne House Wednesday, June 5, at 6:30 p.m. to honor all graduating seniors of the church. Dr. Arthur Kreisman, Southern Oregon college, will speak. His subject will be "Religion In an Adult World." Those seniors who wilt be honored are: Nancy Acord, Mary Music, Mike Witt, and Pattye Stockman. Service To Honor Graduating Seniors Sunday at the 11 a.m. serv ice ten graduating seniors and their parents will be honored guests Eastwood Baptist church, A New Testament with individual name inscrib ed will be given to each senior. The structure will provide a study, bedroom and bath for each of the four priests plus a guest room. The present rectory, the two story white building on the property to the 1957 Award of Merit Winner Area Presbyterians List Sermons and Music Dr. Don Emerson Ha'.l, di rector of the United Presby terian foundation with head quarters in New York City, will give the sermon at First Presbyterian church Sunday morning. His topic will be "The Church, the Body of Christ." The mixed quartet, com posed of Mrs. Charles Champ lin, Mrs. William Uhreen, Gary Frame and Lynn Sjo lund, will sing for both the 9:30 and the 11 a.m. services. The chancel choir will present an anthem by Jane Marshall, "He Who Would Valiant Be" at the 11 a.m. service. At the recent meeting of the General Assembly in Des Moines, Iowa, Dr. D. K. West, pastor, was elected to the com mission on ecumenical mis sion and relations. The fol lowing national ofices are held by Presbyterians from Medford: Mrs. George Flana gan, board of Christian edu cation; Glenn Jackson, capital fund drive; Sam Harbison, vice president of the National Council of Presbyterian Men and John Dellenback, Per manent Judicial commission. Dr. West, the Rev. David Brown and Elder Lloyd Neil- son will attend the meeting of Oregon Synod held at Lewis and Clark college in Portland June 3 to 6. The program, previously scheduled for tonight at the church in which Dr. Wendell Phillips was to speak and show films, has been can celled, according to Dr. West. The cancellation was due to illness, it was stated. Westminster Twenty junior high youths will be publicly received as Southern Baptists Announce Topics The Rev. G. O. Skaar, pas tor of First Southern Buptist church, will have for his Sun day morning message "Life According to Christ." In the evening his topic will be "Weapons of Spiritual War fare.'' The church choir will sing at bolh services with Dennis Samples directing. Mr. Skaar will leave Mon day morning to attend a four day conference with other Baptist pastors which will be held at a pastors' retreat at Santa Cruz, Calif. The area of study for the Adult Training Union for June will bo "Christian Mor ality." Theme for the month will be "Practical Problems in Christian Morality." Four of the young people will be baptized. These youths have just completed an eight-week course on church membership taught by the pastor. Dawson Wilke. San Fran cisco Theological seminary, will share in the morning service. He will act as sum mer assistant pastor during June, July and August. Mr. Wilke is a graduate of Lewis and Clark college. Ponland, and has just completed his first year of theological train ing for the ministry. The Rev. John O. Reynolds will preach on the subject, "The Fellowship of the Spirit" and the church choir will sing the anthem "I Walked Today Where Jesus Walked." Ministers, Wives Tourist Baptist O'Brien - First Baptist church, O'Brien, which is be ing remodeled, was toured re cently by several ministers Btid their wives' recently as guests of the Rev. and Mrs. Donald Knight. Summer Schedule Starts at Church The Congregational church Sunday will begin its summer schedule of worship and study. Through the months of June, July and August, the church's Sunday service will be held at 10 a.m. The church school will meet during the worship hour. Kegley Sr. will speak at the 11 a.m. service in the Medford Seventh-day Ad ventist church Saturday. Elder Kegley recently re tired from denominational work, and he and Mrs. Kegley plan to make their home in this area. The Keglci's son, Ronald, Jr. was assistant pas tor in the Medford district several years ago. The annual Rogue River Academy Home and School picnic will be held at the school park Sunday with games beginning at 10 a.m. A potluck dinner will be served at 1 p.m. and in the afternoon an auction sale will be held to benefit the Home and School organization. From 8 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Elder Corwin will conduct an illustrated Bible class in the Medford church, the subject being, "The Prob lem of Sin." Vacation Bible School, un der the direction of Mrs. John Bratton, is scheduled to start in the Medford church on Monday, June 10 at 9 a.m., and sesions will be held five days weekly through June 20. The church is located on 1900 Greenwood st. and chil dren from the ages of 4 to 14 are invited to attend. Classes will be divided into kinder garten, primary and junior divisions. Confirmation Set At St. Peter's The second adult member ship class of the year will be confirmed at St. Peter's Lu theran church, 1020 East Main St., Sunday in the 11 a.m. service, according to the pastor, the Rev. John E. Simon. Holy communion will also be celebrated in the service. Mr. Simon will preach on the theme of Pentecost in both services. The Vacation Bible school season at St. Peter's will start Monday, June 3, with school for pre-school boys and girls. The school will last through Friday. Children may be enrolled before school Monday morning or by call ing the pastor, 772-2847. Mothers are encouraged to sit in with their younger chil dren to see how they will re act. The chapel choir will sing and v Maynard Hadley will be soloist for the service. Sunday at 7 p.m. Mr. An drew's subject will be "The Jew in Prophecy," a message irom the Book of Romans. Elvina Colburn, pastor of Concord Spiritualist chapel, will give the address at 8 p.m. Sunday service.
