BEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE. MEDFORD. OREGON MONDAY. MAY 27. 1963 ivSTrVO il ' 11 14 IV .XL.-.-. fl 5' , -L Jl" NEW SIGNS "Do not stare at the buffalo1' and similar messages will supplant the pretty girls in this picture when these Runs are erected along Jackson county roads as a touriM attraction. The whole idea, accord ing to John Snider, chairman of the tourist committee of the Medford Chamber of Com merce, is to convince the traveler that he has arrived in an area where fun is avail able. Snider's theory is that the tourist leaves his old environment as the butterfly News About Servicemen does its cocoon when he takes to the road. He is a new and different person and he is looking for fun and entertainment. The first sign will be erected near the Pioneer Village at the approach to Jacksonville. It's a "pilot program." If it catches on, there will be plenty of guns available and a message to fit every attraction. The girls, posing with the guns, are Mary Jane Fischer, left, and Mary Fletcher, right.
