Lincoln also set a 21.6 record time in the 220 and anchored the Democrats to victory in the relay as Jeffer son won the championship. -flJPD Tornado Diamondersto Play At Pendleton Tuesday Night Medford High school's Ore gon Class A-l baseball champ ionship semifinal game with the Pendleton Btickaroos will be played at Pendleton on Tuesday evening starting around 8 o'clock. In the Btickaroos the Black Tornado will encounter a vet eran team which has won 22 games and lost nine. Medford sports an 18-4 record. The Tornadoes reached the semi final by compiling a 13-1 standing in the Southern Ore gon conference and by beat ing South Eugene last Friday 4 to 1 in a quarterfinal m'.x. Pendleton took the Inter mountain league play off with The Dalles then tripped North Salem on Friday 4 to 2. Winner of Tuesday night's game will go against the Mad-ison-Hillsboro winner in 'he third fray of a championship triple bill on Thursday, Me morial Day, at Multnomah stadium in Portland. Madison and Hillsboro meet today. Fords or Enyart Leading batters for Coach Bob White's Bucks are Tim Temple, Bunker, Jack Baird and Larry French. In the North Salem game Bunker and Robbie Cook each got two hits and Temple, French, Clarence Cowapoo and Gnry Wilkinson each one. Bunker held North to two hits and fanned 10 while Issuing six bases on balls. Medford Coach John Kov enz has indicated that cither Jack Fordc or Bill Enyart will bo the Tornado chuckcr to morrow with the one not get ting the starting call being the first line backup man. Likely Tornado starters other than the pitcher are Mike Barnes, catcher; Don Anderson, first bBso; Dick Defflcy, second base; Dan Miles, shortstop; Ron Ed monds, third base; Mike Noathamcr, center field, Gary Miller, left field; and Darryl Stockton or Wayne Couch, right field. Pendleton may have Cook, catcher; French, first base; Baird, second base; Cowapoo, shortstop; Jim Rohdc, third base; Wilkinson, left field; Temple, center field, and Wayne Stone, right field. The Medford squad left this morning for Pendleton and will work out under the lights tonight. Deft ley heads Medford players who have had most batting turns with a .384 aver age hut pitcher Stu Young has the top mark with .472. Other hitting marks include Miles .277, Miller .274, Nca- thamer .289 and Barnes .264 The Tuesday night tilt is slated to start right after sundown. Oregon School Activities as sociation lias set afternoon starting times for the titular triplebill. The Class B game is planned for 1:30 p.m., the Class A-2 for 3:30 p.m. and the Class A-l for 3:3 p.m. on Thursday. In today's A2 semis Yim- hill-Carlton was at Bandon and McKerjila at Woodburn. Half milcrs Jan Under wood, Jerry Brady, Norm Hoffman and Morgan Growth shattered the old record of 7:18.4 set by the U.S. Nation al team in 1060. Times were 1:50.2 for Underwood, 1:52.0 for Brady, 1:48.4 for Hoffman and 1:48.3 for Groth. Oregon State's Gary Sten lund captured the javelin event wilh a throw of 251-9. John Burns of Oregon was third in 244-9'i. Doug Parker and Gary Baker, freshmen at Oregon State, finished second and fourth in the 880-yard run in 1:50.2 and 1:51.1, respective ly. As a hitter, Slock is strictly an out man and formidable threat to Hank Aguirrc's title as the worst in the American league. Stock still Is looking for his first major league hit even though this Is his fifth season with the Orioles. The Detroit Tigers beat the Boston Red Sox, 12-3, in the first of two, but dropped the nightcap, 6-5: the Minnesota Twins made it seven in a row with a 5-2 decision over the Chicago White Sox, and the Los Angeles Angels beat the Kansas City A's 6-4.. Errors Hurt Yanki Errors by Bobby Richard son and Clete Boyer in the seventh inning of the nightcap enabled the Senators to score what was to be the winning run against the Yankees. Rookie Jim Duckworth held the Yanks to two runs on six hits over the last six innings to gain his first major league win. Eight-inning homers by Ed Bresoud and Geiger powered the Red Sox to victory in the second game. The Twins also employed home run muscle to beat the White Sox. Zoilo Versalles, Harmon Killebrew and Earl Battey each connected as Jim perry acored his third victory with help from Bill Dailey in the eighth.
